HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
September 19th, 2021
Letter from the Principal
Dear Celtics!
Homecoming 2021 is now behind us, and all students and faculty will be directing their focus on finishing the first quarter successfully.
However, HoCo 2021 was amazing and was a chance for our students and faculty to show off true HT spirit and create unforgettable memories.
Pictures of our fun HoCo week, including two links to some great photos from the HoCo football game, taken by Joshua Barkis' father and Austin Belbeck's father, are included below. The entire week and culminating Saturday night dance, delineate a unique group of students celebrating HoCo 2021 in their unique way. Enjoy the photos!
Also included below is the schedule for the week, with the Saint of the Day links included for each day. We hope this helps you share in the Holy Trinity's daily celebration of our Catholic saints.
The 1st quarter is entering its final stretch. All students are invited to focus on their academics and finish this quarter strong. Parents and guardians, encourage and support your students in their efforts and help us help your children thrive at Holy Trinity.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Brogan

HT Sports!
CROSS COUNTRY
VOLLEYBALL
FOOTBALL
Despite THESA barely taking the lead, the Celtics played hard and furious throughout the game and never once slowed their pace.
At half time, Coach Mike Hannon, the first football coach at Holy Trinity, who coached the first HT football team, presented Coach Shelton with a helmet from that very first team, signed all over by the boys on that first team. In addition, Coach Hannon presented one of the very first HT team jerseys to Coach Shelton, along with a scrap-book full of news and information about HT's first team. Thank you Coach Hannon!!! What a great gift to mark Holy Trinity's 25th anniversary!
Half time was also the presentation of HT's 2021 Homecoming Court and ultimately, the 2021 Homecoming King and Queen. Izzy Velasquez was voted HoCo Queen, and Nikelis Estrada was voted HoCo King. Congratulations to all our students voted into this year's court, and especially congratulations to all those who were in the running for King and Queen!

Volunteer Opportunities
Holy Trinity Students! Are you interested in earning volunteer service hours?
We are partnering with Luv Michael, a non-profit that advocates for autism acceptance. Luv Michael has unique digital volunteer opportunities for students.
How does the volunteer experience work?
Luv Michael has developed a volunteer program where students can earn community service hours for completing around 2 weeks of service advocating for adults with autism using digital platforms. At the conclusion of the virtual volunteer experience, students will be awarded a certificate of completion for their service. Students have the option to continue volunteering with Luv Michael where they can earn the President's National Service Award, a nationally recognized award for outstanding volunteerism.
How do I sign up?
If you are interested in learning more about how this organization is making a difference and how you can be involved, earning community service hours, the meeting will be Monday, September 13 during the 9th period at 3:20 pm. Please bring your phone or laptop. NOTE: This meeting may go a few minutes beyond the end of the period.

Mr. Mosmeyer's Hurricane Ida Fundraiser
Good afternoon Celtic Parents!
Recently I celebrated my 50th birthday. Sigh. I'm asking for a favor for my birthday. I am collecting money to help a Catholic school affected by Hurricane Ida. If you are able, please consider giving any amount to help out. So far, we have collected more than $500 from the students and faculty. I am collecting during lunch and really anytime during the school day. Donations can be brought by your child directly to me or turned into the office.
I introduced this cause to the students on Monday in a little story about my birthday. Feel to read on if you choose. Either way, I hope you will consider helping out!
So, with a September 1 birthday, I am truly lucky. It's the beginning of the school year, and students are still excited and wanting to impress teachers! For several years, I told students that for my birthday, I want G2 Pens (.07) and Starbucks cards. One year, the students surprised me with well over $125 in Starbucks money and tons of pens! I actually felt bad. I thought that money could have gone to a better cause than me. I mean, I still have some unopened packs of G2 pens, and I have rarely had to pay for my own Starbucks. (I typically just get black coffee, so $125 goes a long way).
In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas Gulf Coast, first Port Aransas, then Rockport and the northside of Copano Bay, then the Houston area. My mother had a vacation house--her retirement plan--in Holiday Beach, which is located on the north side of Copano Bay. It was completely wiped out, but with insurance money, I knew she would be okay.
But, Sacred Heart Catholic School in Rockport was also devastated. The school's main building was destroyed. The students had to move to other schools while the church worked to rebuild. That year, for my birthday, I asked students to contribute to the rebuilding of Sacred Heart.
On September 19, 2017, I was able to deliver a check of more than $1,500 to Father Ray at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. And though our gift was not the difference between the school reopening or not, I know it was appreciated. Sacred Heart reopened in January 2018. We received a thank you card written by "Alexander," a student at the school: "Thank you for being there for us after Harvey."
I want to continue that tradition this year. I hope that you will help the victims of Hurricane Ida. Any contributions collected will go specifically to a Catholic school in need of help.
Thank you, and God Bless!
