ALICE Training
On September 20, 2023, an email communication was sent by the district regarding District Safety. It included information about the implementation of ALICE across the District this year as a way to help protect our students and staff.
The high school will be providing this training to all of the students on Tuesday, October 17th during an hour long MMA. Mrs. Fasick and Officer Shaffer will be conducting this training from the TV studio and broadcasting to the whole school in their individual MMA classes. The training (which is linked below) is meant to empower the students and help to plant the seeds of what to do in case of an active shooter scenario. Unfortunately, this is a life skill that everyone needs to have, as these situations can happen anywhere, not just at school.
During the training, students will have the opportunity to discuss what is being taught and have the opportunity to ask questions. Each teacher in each classroom will have a live chat open with Mrs. Fasick and Officer Shaffer to ask any student questions or gain clarification. Students will not be leaving the building, hiding, or countering as part of the training. The only active/physical part of the training will be a 30 second activity that will require pre-selected students to demonstrate how fast they could barricade or block a door in the case of an emergency.
Please take an opportunity to preview the material that will be used in the training with the students. Then each family can follow up with their student after the training on October 17th.
Parent Conferences
As a reminder, parent conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 1st, from 12:30-2:45 PM and 5:00-8:30 PM. While students in K-8 will have conferences on Thursday, 11/2, as well, the high school will only have conferences on Wednesday, 11/1, and students in grades 9-12 will attend school on Thursday, 11/2.
Conferences are intended to facilitate meaningful conversations about your student's learning. Our conference format centers around reflecting on student progress and identifying the necessary supports going forward. Therefore, we encourage your student to attend conferences with you. Each scheduled conference time is 20 minutes. Parents may sign up for conferences with individual teachers by using the link below. The second link is a step by step guide with directions explaining how to book a conference using Google Calendar. An email will be sent to parents next week with links to every teacher's conference calendars.
All conferences will be held in person, unless you request a Zoom conference. If you prefer to have your conference held via Zoom, please email the teacher after booking a conference. They will send you a Zoom link to meet at the time of your conference.

UPCOMING EVENTS & OPPORTUNITIES
Introducing Cayleigh Baker, our 23-24 Student Ambassador!
Every year, the Eagles Nest, a Branch of First Capital Federal Credit Union, offers one incoming junior or senior from Dover Area High School the opportunity to work in the branch to gain valuable, real-world banking knowledge! This school year we welcome senior Cayleigh Baker as the 2023-2024 Student Ambassador. So, let’s find out a little bit more about Cayleigh…
Hello! My name is Cayleigh Baker, and I am the Student Ambassador at the Eagles Nest. I am involved in DECA and am a part of the leadership team as the VP of Finances. I plan on going to college but am undecided on where I want to go. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, and spending time with my friends and family. This year, I am looking forward to the experience and opportunity First Capital has provided to help me better prepare for my future!
Stop by and see Cayleigh and Kayla Decker, School Branch Coordinator, at the Eagles Nest on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. You can also reach me through email at kaylad@firstcapitalfcu.com or by calling (717) 767-5551 ext. 1550.
