Message from the Principal
I know how hard our teachers have been working to ensure students continue to grow and learn no matter the instructional model. Our hard work is paying off! In 13 of 14 categories that we regularly assess in reading and math, we are seeing more kids at proficient levels or in other words are at grade level! This was very exciting news! The data below shows the percentage of students in that grade who are proficient and the type of assessment that was given in January of this year. Even when students weren't achieving proficiency we have seen the majority make substantial gains in both reading and math! This is a celebration of everyone's efforts to educate the children of Lewis and Clark!

Progress Reports!
February 15, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians of Fargo Public Schools Elementary Students,
During fall conferences, parents and guardians were able to review and discuss the expectations for academic learning and personal development for your child’s grade level, student progress, and any concerns or questions from you or the teacher. Despite the impact COVID has had on the amount of time we are able to work with your child, we continue to strive for a year’s growth for all students.
Students receive three progress reports each year that are stored as electronic documents in PowerSchool along with other assessments and student records. There are numerous advantages to storing documents like these in PowerSchool over a traditional paper copy only. The electronic version is secure and confidential, easily accessed, environmentally friendly, and is permanently archived.
Click here to login to PowerSchool and view how-to documents
Students’ progress reports will be posted in the PowerSchool parent portal by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2021. If parents/guardians need assistance with accessing or creating a PowerSchool parent account, they should contact their school office.

Virtual Academy News
Parents,
In the 2020-2021 school year, Fargo Public Schools was able to provide the Virtual Academy for students and families because of an executive order by Governor Burgum. Currently, that order is slated to expire at the end of the school year; legislative action would be needed to continue offering this type of setting. As a result, all students enrolled in the Virtual Academy in the 2020-2021 school year will be enrolled back at their neighborhood school for the 2021-2022 school year. This helps assure that we have your student assigned a teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.
If future legislative action allows for North Dakota schools to offer virtual programming for students, Fargo Public Schools would complete a process to review the viability of implementing a sustainable virtual academy. FPS has experienced successes and also learned many lessons over the course of this school year that would be considered if a virtual school was allowed to continue.
Hope this finds you all doing well!
