Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
April 4th, 2022
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
I hope that your children had a safe and relaxing Spring Break! Report Cards will be available in Home Access Center (HAC) on April 4th. We have state testing coming up for the next week and throughout April. Attendance and promptness are essential!
The PCSD will be holding a Kindergarten Registration Event on April 2nd at the Board of Education (next to Parma Senior High School). Please share the information with anyone you know who will have an incoming Kindergarten student for the 2022-23 school year.
Please fill out this TITLE I FAMILY SURVEY 2022 to give us feedback on our Title I services.! We are a Title I school. Our Title I team sponsored our Book of the Year! Title I is a Federal-aid program through which most Ohio school districts receive funding to provide supplemental instruction for schools that qualify. The survey has only 16 items with mostly "yes" or "no" responses. It should only take a few minutes.
As always, I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley to make it the wonderful school that it is. We are so appreciative of all of our Pleasant Valley families. Should you ever have any questions, concerns, or just a terrific idea you would like to share, especially about improving parent involvement, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.885.2480 weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Interested in our STEM program for your child next year? If so, read below
The STEM Program approaches learning differently than our traditional classroom setting. It is a Project-Based Learning Environment (meaning they work in teams to solve problems). They share thoughts and ideas with each other, they work as a team to reach a common goal, and they persevere together to solve problems and really take ownership of their own learning. It’s a different model than a traditional classroom, but they do use the same elementary curriculum. If your child is approved for the STEM program, it is offered at our Pleasant Valley Elementary School location.
If you are interested in the STEM program for your child(ren) for next year and are not currently in the STEM program, you can apply using this link: https://www.parmacityschools.org/Page/8875
If you're not sure if your child is appropriate for STEM, call us! (440) 842-7993 Allison Kokley, Dean of STEM Students would be happy to help you and answer any questions you have.
Transportation will not be provided for families wishing to enroll their students in STEM Project-Based Learning unless the child already lives within the transportation eligibility zones of that building. Of course, parents may provide transportation to that building if their student is eligible for the program.
