A NOTE FROM YOUR HUGHES MIDDLE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
HMS Parents and Friends,
As we begin the final grading period of the 20-21 school year, there is hope in the air.
- There is hope that as our “new” students who are returning to campus are ready to transition to in-person learning.
- There is hope that our transitioning virtual learners will transition well into their new home learning environment.
- There is hope that ALL our students will finish strong for the year.
- There is hope that ALL of our teachers will finish strong for the year.
- There is hope that the district will select a new principal that will be perfect for HMS.
- There is hope that our students will bring powerful results on STAAR testing for HMS.
- There is hope that the Educational Testing Service (ETS) will be able to handle the upcoming online STAAR(s).
- There is hope that students will be successful in their quest to recovery credit for failing classes or excessive absences.
- There is hope that our 8th graders are preparing for the amazing adventure of high school.
- There is hope that our 7th graders are preparing for the leadership roles they will be taking on as the upperclassmen.
- There is hope that our 6th graders are no longer nervous about being a middle schooler.
- There is hope that our incoming 5th graders (new 6th graders) are excited about the great adventure of middle school.
We are confident that if you think about it, you and your family can list many, many things that give you a sense of hope for the upcoming days. Remember to think on these things everyday. Talk about them with your child(ren). Your conversation and attitude can change others' outlook. Speak with hope in your voice. YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Until next week,
Your HMS Administrative Team

FROM BISD ATHLETICS
The UIL updated its COVID protocols on March 4, 2021. The protocols still require masks at UIL events. For now, BISD will keep the COVID protocols that have been in place all year for 7th-12th athletic events. We will review the 50% stadium capacity if the need arises this Spring.
