Principals' Post
We have many activities planned for this week to reiterate the importance of kindness, respect, and empathy. We encourage our students to show their support for bully prevention by participating in our spirit week activities!
Monday- Wear Red. All students will get Bully Free Pledge forms in their classrooms to sign.
Tuesday- Wear your favorite sports team shirt. “I will be part of the No-Bullying team.”
Wednesday- National Unity Day! October 24th. Wear ORANGE! Every student will also take part in a school-wide mural project.
Thursday- Pajama Day- “Wake up and be all you can be-- Bully Free!”
Friday- Messy Hair Day- “Don’t let bullies mess with your head.”Parents and school personnel are the most powerful defense against bullying. On-going conversations with trusted adults about how to interact with peers, how to respond to potential negative interactions and how to report situations where they might need help are crucial.
Our goal is to provide a safe and caring learning environment for our students. As always, if you need to report a situation or need support please feel free to contact your child’s teacher(s), our school Social Workers (Mrs. Rotsch or Mrs. Blackstone) or either one of us.

Pickup and Dropoff Procedures
After working in close partnership with our Hickory Hills Police Department, we are making some changes to our dismissal procedures for 2nd quarter. These changes are to keep traffic flowing and to keep our Panther students and families safe. These changes will begin on MONDAY, OCTOBER 22nd.
This message is for anyone who drives a car to pick up Glen Oaks students. Please share this information with anyone who will be dropping off or picking up your child during the school year.
Car pickup is held on the NORTHSIDE OF 91ST STREET
STUDENTS WILL WAIT ON THE SIDEWALK BETWEEN THE CROSSWALK AT THE EAST END OF OUR PROPERTY AND 87TH AVENUE - PLEASE DO NOT EXIT YOUR CAR!
PARENTS, please STAY IN YOUR CAR AND PULL FORWARD WHEN POSSIBLE to keep the flow of traffic moving.
Once your child enters your car, please be sure that the area is CLEAR before pulling away from the drop off zone.
If a car in front of you pulls away, please pull UP as far as possible to keep the line moving.
Only children with a designated WALKER PERMIT will be able to leave the area.
If you wish to get out of your car, we ask that you please park on a side street. PLEASE DO NOT get out of your car if your car is in the drop off/pick up lane along 91st street.
Walker permits can be requested from the Glen Oaks office. A parent signature is REQUIRED!
We will have additional staff on duty to assist with this updated procedure - they will be providing reminders and assistance to students and families to keep them safe and to ensure that the process runs smoothly. Safety is our number one goal, whether you are part of the Glen Oaks community, a pedestrian or a passing motorist! Please be respectful and understanding of our staff who will be posted to help us further our safety goal.
