Celebrating Excellence
On February 1st, representatives from HEB (including HEB Buddy) came to South Knoll to notify Paula Martinez that she was a finalist for a HEB Excellence in Education Award. Ms. Martinez is an amazing teacher who loves her students and South Knoll. We have always known she is exceptional in every way. We are so glad she is receiving this recognition. A special thank you to HEB for celebrating and supporting public education.
CSISD Education Foundation 50 Men Who Can Cook
On February 12th, South Knoll will participate in safety drills with students. These drills will be done in succession during a brief period in the instructional day. If you have any questions about these drills, contact Taylor Coker (tcoker@csisd.org)
Author Visit Coming Soon!
We are having an author visit with Michael Patrick O’Neill on February 29! Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Michael is an award-winning photographer and author specializing in marine wildlife and environmental issues. He lives in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and for the last 24 years has traveled extensively worldwide photographing diverse aquatic animals, habitats and man’s impact on them. When not making photographs or writing, he is on the lecture circuit promoting a greater appreciation for the natural world, especially the oceans and their inhabitants. He has presented to over 500,000 kids in more than 400 schools in the US in the last 14 years.
If you would like to order books before the visit, or learn more about Michael, please visit his website: https://batfishbooks.com/michael-patrick-oneill/
PTO News
PTO is getting things ramped up for the Tiger Family Night in April. This fun evening is filled with student performances, fun booths for kids, and a silent auction. Any items you would like to donate to the silent auction would be greatly appreciated. You can either drop off items at the front office or email the PTO at southknollelementarypto@gmail.com and they would be glad to pick anything up!
Chrissy's Closet is a FREE store for CSISD students, staff & their families to obtain new/gently used clothes, shoes, underwear, socks, coats, and personal hygiene items. Our goal is to help students and their families to feel positively about themselves, CSISD and attending school by providing access to items needed to arrive at school clean, warm, and ready to learn.
There is no application or registration process required. Families with one or more CSISD students or any CSISD employee may visit the clothing closet once per month. Five items per student/employee per month will be allowed. Just show up and shop!
Chrissy's Closet is located in the Barbara Bush Parent Center at 1200 George Bush Ave., College Station, TX 77840. There is parking in front of the building and behind it off of Timber Dr.
Chrissy's Closet will be open each Monday from 4-6 PM (Except on school holidays and summer break) and any other publicized special dates.
The emails and texts you are receiving concerning attendance are auto-generated and sent out by the district. The South Knoll staff does not send these out. However, if you have questions about your child's attendance please call the front office to speak with our attendance clerk.
