Big picture

Our students' success in school is directly tied to daily attendance.

Attending school is a child's first job where one's work ethic is developed.

LISD has created an attendance email address for Cypress Elementary where parents can send attendance notes and contact our registrar. Please use the email below to send sick or doctor notes to our registrar as an alternative to sending paper notes. This will hopefully make it easy for you to quickly contact the school about attendance. Feel free to continue to send in paper notes if you so desire.

Attendance Email Address:

When submitting an absence note, please include the following in your email:

  • Student Name
  • Student Teacher & Grade
  • Date of Absence(s)
  • Reason for Absence
  • Attach Dr/Dentist Notes if applicable. ( or send in separately to the office)

For any additional questions please contact our registrar Stacy Magruder.

    It's Cold and Flu Season!

Here are some friendly reminders to help stay virus free this season:

    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds
      • If soap and water not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Cover your Cough; Cough and sneeze into a tissue then throw it away, or cough and sneeze into your upper shirt sleeve, completely covering your mouth and nose
      • Wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose
    • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and objects such as toys and doorknobs
    • Stay at home while you are sick.
    • Call and inform school nurse of confirmed Flu diagnosis.

LISD follows the Texas Department of Health Guidelines for illness-related exclusions from school. A student will be sent home if they have a fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit or above or any other contagious symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, etc.) and will need to remain home until symptom free for twenty-four (24) hours, and without the use of medications.

    Lunch Drop-Off

Starting next week when dropping off lunch for your child, you will fill out a slip with your child's student's information. Tape it to the lunch box/bag, and place it in the assigned lunch crate for the student's grade level. The crates, along with the 'Lunch Drop-off' slips, will be found in entry way by the front office. This new procedure will keep our students in class learning.

    Crossing Guards Needed ASAP

Safety is ALWAYS our top priority for our children.

We have 3 PAID positions available. Please click here for the application.

This is a perfect job for someone looking to contribute a little bit of time AND get paid for it! It is a 45 min morning shift (7:00-7:45 AM) & 30 min afternoon shift (2:45-3:15 PM).

    PTA Enrichment Application Winners

The Cypress PTA has been busy collecting photos of “PTA Enrichment Application” winners. Mr. Clark was awarded money to fund a mat cutter to help better display our children’s art work which was used extensively for the Monster Art Show last month.

Amie LaGow and the her students were awarded money to fund a coffee cart. It is used to serve teachers coffee in order to increase the student's social and monetary skills as well as working on their mathematics.

Finally this month we would love to highlight another teacher that filed for the application. Lindsay Heideman wanted flexible seating in her classroom. Students benefit from the choice of learning space and the ability to move. It gives students a sense of ownership over their learning environment and having students be able to move more freely allows for collaboration and higher engagement.

We are currently gearing up to launch the PTA Enrichment Application for the 2019-2020 school year and would love for interested parties to play a part in helping run this program. 'Write a Check" and "Winter Wonderland" are our two largest fundraising events that help us keep giving back to our school.

As always - THANK YOU to all our contributors who allowed us to make this happen!

    Box Tops

Show our school some love and keep saving those box tops.

Contest starts this week and runs through February 20.

Top 4 contributors will receive a free Chik Fil A meal and the class

    popsicle party.
