Prestwick STEM Academy
Prestwick Profile - Community Vol. 21 Jan. 7, 2019
Welcome 2019
This spring semester has so much in store for each of us. We will continue to challenge your children to be the very best versions of themselves and reach their goals. This is definitely not a challenge we take lightly. As a staff we have set lofty goals for ourselves and continue to strive to grow ourselves as professionals too. Fortunately we are so blessed to have a staff that jumps right into this. They think creatively, use space adaptively and are very willing to demonstrate our core values of PERSISTENCE, ADAPTABILITY, SERVICE and SOLUTION FOCUS!
Together we have the chance to take calculated risks, learn from things when they don't go how we expected and explore ways to get to our next levels. To do this we will not set new goals or resolutions but instead commit ourselves to make each day count.
Join us in staying plugged in this spring semester. This can be done by following our campus news via our website, peachjar, grade level social media sites and weekly Prestwick Profiles. Attend our events - January STEM night will not disappoint! Open House, PTA Meetings and Coffee with the Principal events are other ways to connect as well. Volunteers are always welcome as well - how would you like to plug in?
MOST importantly we welcome your input and are happy to take your phone calls, respond to emails or set up a time to meet with you.
Thank you for the honor to love and lead your children - it is my greatest joy!
Your Proud Prestwick Principal,
Christine Gibson
Prestwick LEarns
Even as we moved towards the winter break our teachers and students were getting out and about to explore and learn. In our fifth year taking this trip we often get questions of why we take a trip so far with our students. My answer is simple - we take our students to places that are RELEVANT and have the chance to leave an impact for many years to come. We are thankful to parents who make the sacrifice of cost and time to join with us. It would not be the same without your support.
Our 4th grade teachers, chaperones and students had a wonderful learning experience in San Antonio and Austin. Texas history is best seen in some of the historic places they visited. We are certain that our learners shared this adventure with their families as soon as they got home! Don't they look fantastic from San Antonio!

Staff Spotlight
This week’s spotlight is on one of our elective teachers, Mr. Castañón. Mr. Castañón teaches both Spanish and Physical Education to our middle schoolers. He has been a Lobo Leaders in Littel Elm for several years and also taught and coached at Lakeside Middle School. Here is what Coach has to say about himself. “ I am Coach Castañón and I enjoy my fantastic position here at Prestwick STEM Academy. A fun fact about me would be that I fought forest fires during the summers while in college. I hope that my students and their parents feel that, as the students are attending my Spanish classes, they learn to love learning another language. Sí se puede.”
