Tips for Visiting Olson

Here are some tips for visiting Olson.

1) Please have your ID ready to show to the camera after you ring the bell.

2) Please keep your ID out to show the receptionist at the reception window.

3) Please DO NOT hold the door open for other parents or visitors. This goes against our nature as we all want to be polite and helpful to one another. However, every person who enters the building needs to show ID prior to entering. Please also be mindful to not let anyone in as you leave the building.

Student and staff safety is our top priority at Olson. Thank you for doing all that you can to help us.

Olson Library Legacy Books

Hello Otter Families!

I am Mrs. MacGee, OIson’s new Librarian, and I am excited to launch the Olson Library Legacy Books initiative!

Olson Library Legacy Books is promoted by the Olson Library to honor our students and families, as well as build our school library with new and exciting books!

With a $20 donation to the library, a book is purchased for our permanent collection and is inscribed with the donor’s name (student or family). They will then be the first to check the book out for 2 weeks.

Please explain to your student/s that the book is a donation and will become part of the Olson Library collection for other students to check out after them.

Here are some suggestions for opportunities to honor your student/s with an Olson Library Legacy book:

  • Birthdays
  • Accomplishments
  • New member of the family
  • In Memory Of…
  • Special family events
  • 6th Grade celebration .... and many more!

Please complete this Google Form and submit payment via School Pay to be a part of this very special initiative, and thank you for your support!

Character Trait:

The Character Trait for the month of October is Self-discipline.

Self-discipline is defined as the ability to control one's feelings and behavior, with the intention of improving oneself, or the ability to make yourself do the things that need or should be done.

Self-discipline involves acting according to what you think instead of how you feel in the moment. Often it requires sacrificing an “in the moment” feeling or temptation for what matters most in life.

Self-discipline is something that requires practice and development over time, and can be difficult. In order to develop self-discipline, you have to be aware of what you are doing and why. The “why” comes from a commitment that you are willing to make to a value or goal. Because self-discipline can be difficult, don’t pretend it is easy, instead find the courage to face it head on, encourage yourself and reassure yourself along the way.

Share your value or goal with your family and friends so they can help you along the way. Talk, as a family about some things you have accomplished or want to accomplish that required or require self-discipline.

Allen ISD Health & Safety Guidelines

2022-2023 Health and Safety Guidelines -

Allen ISD looks forward to welcoming all students back to school for the 2022-2023 school year. The district will continue to monitor the guidance of local, county, and state health agencies to ensure we find an appropriate balance of health and safety procedures that afford us the opportunity to also ensure high levels of student learning.

Allen ISD’s health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 for the 2022-2023 school year are located on the district website. These protocols are subject to change based upon additional Texas Education Agency guidance.
