Anthony Horowitz was born on April 5th, 1955 in Paddington, London into a wealthy Jewish family. He was a unhappy overweight child, who often found himself alone in his father's library reading stories of mysteries and legends. As time went on, he started giving presentations to his piers on the stories he read. Then, he started to write his own little stories that portrayed the mythical creatures that he read about in a different way. This hobby of his lead him to writing Myths and legends in 1985 which retold the many stories from around the world. In total he wrote 53 novels and is still going.

Summary

Illegal trade of uranium could only mean one thing; bomb. General Sarov had two people killed just so he can get what he wants. There is one hope to stop this plan of his, Alex Rider. During an undercover assignment to discover what was going on at the Wimbledon Open, a tennis tournament for the best of the best, Alex discovered an organization who spreads terror and violence country wide; this group is known as the big circle. Their next target, is Alex. To escape the threat of the big circle Alex is sent with two CSI agents to skeleton key, an island just off the coast of Cuba. Their mission, stop Gneral Sarov and his nuclear bomb.

Setting

The main setting in this book is located off the coast of Cuba, an island know as one of the best vacation spots in the world, Skeleton Key. Skeleton Key also know as Cayo Esqueleto is is 38 kilometer long and nine across. Supposedly discovered by Sir Francis Drake, it is said that it was named when he found a single skeleton there on the beach. Although it is a fishing village on the island, it is primarily a fishing resort with luxury hotels and facilities.

Characters

Alex Rider is a 14 year old boy who is working for a top secret organization known as M16. Though is talents are remarkable and no one suspects that he is a spy, he is starting to regret joining the agency. Seeing not one, not two, but three villains get shot, launched out of a helicopter, or commit suicide. The life in which death surrounds him is too much for a boy of his stature. Soon, he says that he will return to his normal life, or so he thinks.
