Grade 2:

Second graders will learn to identify different geometric shapes by examining the surfaces, angles, edges, and vertices. Students will also continue using different strategies to solve addition/subtraction word problems.

Students will continue writing their insect reports and will also practice writing responses to various forms of literature.

We will continue reading a variety of literature and practice identifying main idea vs. details.

Hopefully all of the students are busy gathering supplies in order to begin working on their insect projects. Remember, it is not necessary to go out and buy expensive supplies. It’s amazing how creative a child could be with tin foil, cellophane, cardboard, and paper towel rolls.

Second grade students had a fantastic time visiting Casey Farm. They gained hands-on experience using various simple machines, and also had a chance to explore marine life by the bay.
