Wade King Elementary

March 2021

A Note from the Principal

Hello Wade King Families,

In the last week, we have welcomed back most of our 4th and 5th grade students. It feels so good to have so many students back in the building, and yet, because our classes are kept separate from each other, the building doesn't feel like it's full. As one of our students said as they started in-person learning last week, "It's weird to wear a mask all day... and it's totally worth it." There is a lot of JOY in our school building, from both kids and adults.

One of the things we have changed, to maximize social distancing, is a new dismissal routine. We are currently using announcements to dismiss students to each of our buses and are sending messages to teachers to dismiss students who are being picked up. We will soon be streamlining this routine with a new system that will let us check you in with a family number, at either the main pick-up/drop-off loop in front of the school or at the gate to the lower gravel parking lot. I will be sending out more information very soon!

If you are picking up your child from our pick-up/drop-off loop, please help us keep your child safe by reminding them to WAIT until your car has STOPPED before walking up to your car. We are teaching into this at school, but reminders from you would be great too!

As always, don't ever hesitate to connect with me if you have questions, concerns, ideas, or great stories. I love hearing from you!

With Gratitude,

Stephanie Johnson, Principal

HEALTH ATTESTATION for In-Person Learning

I am grateful for the diligence of our school community, in checking their child daily for symptoms of illness and keeping symptomatic children home from school. All families have filled out our District Health Attestation for their child at least once, as a reminder of the symptoms to watch for. You will receive an email each quarter asking you to fill it out again, for each of your children. If you ever have any questions about whether or not your child can come to school, don't hesitate to call our office at 360-647-6840. We're here to help!

FRIDAY FUN Hat Day

Last Friday, our Student Leadership Team planned a 'Hat Day' event for us. It was lots of fun to see so many staff and students wearing hats. Some of them were very creative!

Bus Route Times Could Change - March 8th

On Monday, March 8th, many high school students will be returning to school. Our elementary school buses will be arriving at school a few minutes earlier. If your child rides the bus to school, their bus morning pick-up time could change. You can find up-to-date times using Infofinder. All you have to do is enter your address and your child's grade.
