FROM THE DESK OF MS. TAYLOR AND MR. RODRIGUEZ
Dear ESTLA Families
During this sixth week of school, I can’t express how happy we are to welcome everyone back into the building for in-person learning. The last 18 months had its ups and downs. Covid-19 has impacted each and everyone of us in its own way. We understand everyone is facing their own challenges so please reach out if you are in need of help with school supplies or uniforms. We do not want those things to stand in the way of your student being successful each and every day when coming to school.
As students are adjusting again to the normalcy of school and are trying to adhere to the expectations that are set for them, we believe that it is important to make you aware of behaviors that we are noticing across all grade levels. We believe by addressing these behaviors early, we can set the tone for the rest of the school year and ensure that our focus is on teaching and learning.
Bullying - This will not be tolerated. We have done lesson talks and have had some of our 8th grade “leaders” speak to classes about bullying and the expectations and how we conduct ourselves at ESTLA.
Cell Phones - Cell phones are off and in lockers at all times. 8th graders do get the “privilege” to carry their phones and use them during lunch, however if they abuse it, it can get suspended. NO one should be calling a parent or guardian during the school day for any reason. If a student needs to call home, they should speak to a teacher, administrator or school nurse. We have phones that can be used in the school.
Masks - Everyone MUST wear a mask in the building..NO EXCEPTIONS. Students must come with a mask to school each and every day. It is highly recommended to send your student to school with an extra mask or two each day. All masks must fit and be worn over the mouth and nose.
Finally, we wanted to re-share the letter sent by our Superintendent regarding Social Media. Here is the link...Letter regarding TikTok School Challenges 9-30-2021.pdf and it is attached.
I know as an ESTLA parent you are asking yourself, how can I help...
Please talk to your student about this and the consequences that follow.
Please speak with your student and let them know if they see something to report it.
Regularly review your student’s social media activity with them, ask them to show you their TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. and review it with them.
Students can email us directly at ctaylor@nasd.k12.pa.us or Mr. Rodriguez, jrodriguez@nasd.k12.pa.us if they find hurtful or harmful information on social media. Reports will remain anonymous. We have an amazing school and have worked so hard to ensure that our focus is not only student learning, but developing students who respect differences and are aware of how their choices can influence their future opportunities. Thanks for your help and please let us know if you have any questions.
In service,
Christina Taylor, Principal, ctaylor@nasd.k12.pa.us
Mr. Joseph Rodriguez, Assistant Principal, jrodriguez@nasd.k12.pa.us

MONTCO COMMUNITY COLLEGE OFFERS DENTAL
DENTAL
Montgomery County Community College dental hygiene program is currently in need of children and teenagers to come in for cleanings in our clinic.
Each patient who visits the clinic receives an oral cancer screening, x-rays if needed, a cavity check and exam by the dentist, a top notch cleaning, and a custom goodie bag. Additionally, they provide dental sealants on teeth that are vulnerable to cavities.
The great thing about the dental clinic is that it costs $20... no insurance needed. Sealants are provided at $5 per tooth where in a typical office they can cost up to $60 a tooth.
Appointments run from 8:15-11:45am OR 1:30-5pm and patients are expected to stay the entire duration. They are a learning facility, therefore, everything they do gets double checked by the dentist/hygienist.
As student hygienists, we are equipped to treat patients with special needs, delays, and language barriers.
