Shakespeare from a different perspective
Professional actors taught students a variety of ways to look at the great dramatist
“It’s eye-opening,” Nolan Hibsman, a Theater student, said after a morning workshop. “It showed us what acting at the professional level really looks like. I’m just so thankful that the school gives us access to engage in this type of learning activity.”
That access comes from the efforts of English teacher Nick Burch, who helps bring The Linny Fowler WillPower Tour, the centerpiece of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's educational programming, to the high school.

One student even shared with the class pieces of the Wall obtained by her mother on a 1991 trip to Germany.
Mrs. Kreider teaches German 1, 2, 3, 4 and Advanced Placement German. The photos are from her AP German class.

David Shallcross, the Senior Community Liaison and Coordinator of the Elder Abuse Unit, visited Andrew Snyder’s sixth- and seventh-period classes.
“He certainly opened their eyes to a lot of things,” Mr. Snyder said. “As a Project Lead The Way course, we want to expose students to careers and people in the community who are involved in cybersecurity. It gives students a real-world connection. It’s not just me standing there teaching, but here’s a guy who sees what’s happening every day. To me, that’s more meaningful.”

3 important meetings Nov. 12-13
Topics include federal programs, parent wellness and community health needs
There are three important presentations taking place next week that we would like you to aware of. These events are free to those who attend and are focused on supports for students and families.
The first two fit in with the 2019-20 Superintendent goal that specifically deals with the “Culture of Safety, Security and Wellness” and helping to increase student, parent and staff awareness of available student supports and services.
The first, on Tuesday, November 12th at 8 p.m., is the Quakertown Community School District’s annual Federal Program Parent Meeting. It’s directed toward elementary school parents and guardians. The meeting will be held at Quakertown Elementary School, 123 South Seventh Street. There's a parent survey we'd like you to take, even if you can't attend the meeting. Please click here for the survey.
The second presentation is titled Parent Wellness Plans: Creating an Emotional Safety Plan. We can't always control what is happening around us, but we can control how we react. Learn strategies to create a wellness plan to maintain calm and emotional balance.
Please join us on Wednesday, November 13th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Quakertown High School’s Cyber Commons, 600 Park Ave. QCSD is working in partnership with LifeSpan on this one. The Parent Workshop will be given by Living Strong Consulting, LLC. RSVP here if you plan to attend.
Also on Wednesday, November 13th, St. Luke’s University Health Network is inviting the Quakertown community to attend a presentation titled State of the Community: 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment Data Release. The presentation and discussion runs from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the high school’s Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 2:15 p.m. RSVP by calling 1-866-STLUKES (785-8537), option 4.
