State laws are different from federal gun laws because of what they are about, and who follows them.
What I have learned most is that it matters who the law is interpreted. The laws for the national level are interpreted by the Supreme Court while the laws at the state level are interpreted by the senators and representatives as well as the people. There are all sorts of different interpretations that are based on how a person lives or lived, and what the lawmakers believe is best for their state.
