Principal's Message

Tis The Season, Indeed!

As we wish our Senators off for a well deserved winter break, we wanted to provide a challenge to help our students continue to sharpen their skills. Our teachers have taken time to create enrichment learning paths for students in the areas math and reading (core areas). These activities are NOT required, but aimed to help students maintain what they have already been learning, so they can come back ready for the next level of instruction. Please see the plans for the two core areas below. Students who participate and excel will receive a pizza party and also PBIS incentives.

RMS Winter Math Challenge

RMS Math Department: All RMS Math students are encouraged to complete six (6) math lessons assigned to them in ALEKS by their Math teachers. The task will only require about thirty (30) minutes per lesson (Total: 180 minutes). Teachers will assign the six (6) math lessons in ALEKS.

RMS Winter English Language Arts Challenge

RMS ELA Department: All RMS ELA students are encouraged to meet their Lexia usage goals for two consecutive weeks (Week of December 21st-27th and the week of December 28th-January 3rd). Lexia usage goals are individualized based on student progress and instructional needs. Students who meet their individualized goals will receive an incentive when school resumes for second semester.

ELA teachers will offer grade level reading challenges. Students will have the opportunity to select a book from a variety of sources to include teacher classroom libraries, RMS Library MackinVia, or CALS. Each teacher will post a reading log in Schoology. Students are encouraged to read at least 20 mins per day. All students can access access Lexia and Schoology via the PCSSD portal.

Thank you all for sharing your precious children with us. We definitely love our Senators! Take time this holiday season and enjoy each moment with your families. The RMS Family will miss our Senators and look forward to having them back after the holidays. Happy Holidays!
