Westminster Weekly
April 20, 2023
Hello Westminster Families!
We had a great week back in the building. We didn't have the sunshine or warm weather we had during our break, but we were happy to be back at WCS and dive into learning. Please remember, students in grades 3-6 will take the VT CAP over the next two weeks. This is a state assessment in both Reading and Math. Please be sure your child arrives to school on time and ready to try their best.

News From Nurse Kat

ASP Partnering with Main Street Arts!
The Main Street Arts After-School Drama Program at Westminster Center School presents an original adaptation of the Nigerian Folktale, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears. This West African origin story begins with a boastful mosquito telling an unbelievable story that sets off a comical but tragic chain reaction of panic in the forest. Will the animals in the forest be able to find a solution to the disaster that ensues? Come watch an entertaining cast of forest creatures re-enact this familiar tale that explores the consequences of assumption-making, the concept of cause and effect, and the origin of why mosquitoes buzz in people’s ears. This is a student generated performance! The WCS After-School Program participants have contributed to the writing of the script, the creation of the set and will be on stage!
Performances will take place on Thursday, April 27th at 2:15 pm (for the WCS students & teachers) and 4:15 pm (for the WCS ASP families and friends) at the Westminster Center School in the gym.
Trish Roberts has been engaging children and teens in theatrical endeavors for over twenty years. She has directed preschoolers and elementary-aged children both for after-school and homeschool programs, including literature-based drama programs, and has staged several full-length productions at the high-school level. She holds a BA in both French and Theatre, a CT teaching certificate (K-12) as well as a Master’s Degree in English Literature. She is thrilled to be offering the imagination-building work of theatre through the Main Street Arts After-School Drama Program.
