Our 2019 A Week of Love (AWOL) recipient: Tracey Talle
Tracey was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in 2012. This is a condition where the heart wall grows thick and causes the heart not to be able to work correctly. His situation suddenly became severe in 2018 causing significant heart flow obstruction and causing him to experience heart failure. This significantly affected Tracey’s ability to do any kind of physical activity. After medications failed, Tracey was sent by his cardiologist out of state to Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for open heart surgery to shave off the thickened heart wall. Cleveland Clinic specializes in this surgery as few doctors have experience in performing it. Tracey and his wife, Suzy, spent 2 ½ weeks in Cleveland getting many tests performed and for the surgery on February 1, 2019. Tracey will continue to need testing to monitor his heart function though doctors are pleased with the success of the surgery. Tracey and Suzy have been married for 29 ½ years. They have 3 children, Sydney, Madison, and Trevor Talley, who all attended Washington Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Their faith is very important to them, and they are members of Westside Church of Christ in Norman. They have lived in the Goldsby/Washington area for 22 years and Suzy has taught 2nd grade at Washington for 17 years. They are proud to be a part of this community and school.
