JANUARY 18, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Greetings,
During this season the days are shorter and the nights are longer, yet this is an exciting time in our school. Can you believe we have reached the half-way point of our school year?
SLP Online Elementary is using this time to reflect and refresh. As a school and with students and at-home coaches we are reviewing our goals. We are reflecting on our accomplishments and recognizing what we still need to do. As you meet with the learning advocates, please share your thoughts on the next steps in your student(s) learning plan. Your insights are invaluable to this online learning model.
Panthers for a Purpose: Mark your calendar for Panthers for a Purpose coming up in February. The week of giving is February 18-25 and concludes with a big party on Saturday, February 25. It’s a great week of coming together for a good cause. Learn more information below.
Regardless of weather, we will continue with our identified daily schedules. Please continue to call the attendance line, 763-600-5209, to report student absences due to illness, appointments, and vacation. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me.
Take care,
Kim Fehringer

Community Event — Jan. 26: Kate Gladdin, Resiliency Speaker
Don't forget to mark your calendar to hear Resiliency Speaker Kate Gladdin share her message on Thursday, January 26 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center at Spring Lake Park School. The talk will be paired with a health fair at Spring Lake Park High School in the Rotunda where families can learn about community resources.
Kate is a speaker and coach who specializes in uplifting teens and developing their resiliency. Her talks help reduce student anxiety by teaching the power of ''response-ability'' which is the ability to choose a response to any situation based on your perspective of it.
Through Kate's talk, attendees will learn how to:
- Recognize the impact of negative thoughts and self-talk
- Understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and reactions
- Use a simple 3-step strategy to quickly change unhelpful thought
- Identify sneaky negative beliefs and transform them
- Develop a growth mindset during times of adversity
For questions, contact Abbey Pierce.
It’s time to start planning for the 2023-2024 school year!
Spring Lake Park Schools is hosting a number of events this winter and spring to help current and incoming families prepare for the next steps in their students’ education. Whether you are looking to enroll a student, preparing for a school transition or registering for classes, we hope students and families can join us to learn more.
