Principal's Letter
Dear Greenbriar Families,
Happy New Year Greenbriar Community! I hope everyone had a happy and healthy holiday break. As we return to the second half of our year, please be reminded of a couple of issues…
Drop-off in the morning needs to be done in the bus loop. Guardians should not be pulling through the faculty lot to drop your student (s) off. This is dangerous for all involved. Please do not park your car in the lot and drop your student off from a parking spot, again, this is no different than the above mentioned.
Pick-up- All parent guardians should be picking their student(s) up in the Annex Lot after school. The bus loop closes for any cars after 2:30. You cannot enter the faculty lot after this time. We ask that parents DO NOT use the church lot to wait for your students. This again causes unsafe travels as your student walks through buses and cars to get to you.
We have re-located the “lost and found” in the airlock, please feel free to bring your ID and enter the airlock to look for lost items. Every couple of weeks we will donate all items from “lost and found” to homeless shelters.
Winter MAP benchmarking has been completed. I ask that you work with your student(s) at home to prepare them for OST in the early Spring. We appreciate your help in this crucial part of required school testing.
Thank you for all you do to help our school. I truly appreciate your hard work in parenting your children. I realize the hardest job in life is being a parent. We want to continue to work with all our parents and guardians to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all our Yeomen!
Sincerely,
Jill E. Schissler

STEM 5 Learns to Code with Sphero Robotics!
We introduced Tech Time by using Sphero robots to navigate through an obstacle course. Teams worked together to control and drive the Spheros over and through different terrains. Students will continue to learn about the Spheros and begin to code them to travel over different terrains on their own.
STEM 5 Appreciates SOM Angelica Quimson!
Big smiles, honest work ethic and quiet kindness. That's what you'll find if you were to get to know dear Angelica Quimson. She is our STEM 5 December Student of the Month for these reasons! You can count on Angelica to carry her positive attitude wherever she goes. You can count on her to bring her strong work ethic to class so that others can learn what it looks like to be responsible. You can count on Angelica to maintain a quiet inner strength that makes everyone in her presence feel comfortable and safe. We are certainly lucky to have her in the STEM 5 Family. Congratulations, Angelica! We appreciate you!

Thomas is our December Student of the Month. Thomas is extremely polite and well-mannered. He's a quiet student, a consistent student, and always prepared. His work ethic is phenomenal, and even with an arm in a cast, he perseveres through to produce high quality work. Thomas completes his homework and all in-class tasks and assignments on time. He's always willing to help others and is a positive example for his 7th grade peers and someone Mangan thinks of as our ‘Silent Storm.’ Team 7X is thrilled to nominate Thomas as our student of the month; a very well-deserved honor!
