The Red Badge of Courage

Setting- civil war battlefields
Main Conflict
Henry,the youth, wants to have a war story but he flees during battles because his nerves get the best of him so he builds up courage and eventually becomes a hero and holds the flag in battle
Main Characters
1)Henry (youth)- Main character, new solider in the regiment, main role its to go to war and get war story
2)Loud Solider (Wilson)- Henry's best friend, assists him in multiple tasks such as holding the flag, provided emotional support,etc. for his friend
Event One
Henry, goes off to find a regiment so he can be in battle and obtain a war story, this is important to the main conflict because this is the first step for Henry on his quest to get his war story
Event Two
It is Henry's first battle, they win and Henry is completely fine with no injury, Henry still doesn't have a war story and he's disappointed by this, this is his first experience on the battlefield and this makes him feel powerful. He then goes into a battle sleep.
Event Three
During the regiment's pride from the first battle the enemy ambushes them. Henry runs from the battle and away from his regiment. He realizes that he's afraid of death in battle. This related to main conflict because it shows how Henry is scared of battle a bit and may not be cut out to get this story in battle.
Event Four
Henry returns to his regiment's camp after fleeing to the woods, this is important main conflict because he is building up the courage to battle and get a war story
Event Five
After returning to the regiment Henry goes to the final battle with a many regiments fighting at once. During the battle the flag carrier gets shot down. Henry spots this and heroically goes and picks it up, keeping the pride of the flag of the regiment and this leads them to win the battle. The reason why this is so important to the main conflict is that this is when Henry finally becomes a war hero and gets his war story
