Mid-Year Parent Conferences: February 8th-19th
Parent Conferences continue next week. Teachers will be scheduling parent conferences with EVERY parent between February 8-19 to go over your child's Mid-Year Reading and Math scores, their progress in the first semester and set their goals for the remainder of the year. Please be prepared to sign up for a conference time and meet with your child's teacher via zoom. It is extremely important that we work as a team to give our students the best possible educational opportunities. If you have not yet been invited to a parent conference, please call the main office at 817-814-7400.
Parents who attend the Mid-Year Conference will earn a FREE DRESS CODE PASS for their child and will be entered into a drawing for an awesome FAMILY GIFT BASKET.
February is Black History Month
Attendance Matters.
Daily attendance at school is so important for your child to gain the most out of their educational experience. Below we have outlined policies we have at Greenbriar Elementary regarding attendance.
EXCUSED ABSENCES
The student’s illness (no parents or siblings)
Deployment of a parent or sibling
Death in the family (please provide documentation). One day for local funeral and three days for out of metroplex funeral will be excused.
Doctor’s appointment (doctors note required)
Absence Notes must be submitted within 7 calendar days of absence. Please email them to mary.samano@fwisd.org
Doctor’s notes must be submitted for 3 or more consecutive absent days.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES INCLUDE

EARLY DISMISSALS/TARDIES
Early Dismissals and tardies are UNEXCUSED until student submits doctor/parent notes. Notes must be received within 7 calendar days of early dismissal or tardy.
Students entering the school building at 7:55 or later are tardy, and must be accompanied to the front door by a parent.
NURSE RELEASES
If the Nurse releases a student the absence is excused for the remainder of the day.
Additional absences beyond the Nurse Release absence will be UNEXCUSED until approved documentation is submitted to Main Office and must be submitted within 7 calendar days of absences.
TRUANCY ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE
1st Letter is a Warning Letter and it is mailed and/or emailed when a student has three or more Unexcused absences. No fines are given at the Warning Letter stage.
2nd Letter requires a Student Attendance Review Team (SART) Meeting and it is mailed and/or emailed after 5 unexcused absences. This meeting takes place virtually with the student, parent, stay in School Coordinator and designated staff to develop a student truancy prevention plan. The plan is signed and dated by student, parent and staff.
3rd Letter is a Court Letter and it is mailed and/or emailed when Unexcused absences persist after the SART meeting. Parent and student are required to attend court at this level. Fines and/or other penalties maybe issued by the judge at this level.
Truancy Attendance determines if parents will receive truancy letters as stated above. It is cumulative from the first day to the last day of school. Please submit absence notes on time to avoid receiving truancy letters.
If you receive a notification about unexcused absences and wish to speak with our Attendance Clerk, please call the main office at 817-814-7400 or email her at mary.samano@fwisd.org .
Happy Valentine's Day

What's so great about PATHBLAZER?
As you know, one of the Reading and Math programs FWISD has adopted is Pathblazer. This program takes your child's MAP scores and adjusts to specifically target your child's individual academic needs at his/her own level. That makes Pathblazer an excellent intervention for students who may be behind grade level AND an awesome enrichment program for students who are excelling beyond their current grade level.
Pathblazer Information:
- Students should be completing a minimum of 1 hour (Reading) and 1 hour (Math) each week for a total of 2hrs minimum per week. The good news is, this can be completed at school and at home if students are spending about 20 minutes per day on each program.
- Beginning next week, your child should daily have their yellow Pathblazer form for you and their teacher to initial when your child spends at least 20 minutes working on Pathblazer Reading, Pathblazer Math, and MyOn/AR.
- Acknowledgement and prizes are being earned for Pathblazer usage and the number of activities successfully completed.
- Pathblazer can be accessed by clicking on the APP in your child's classlink. You can also view your child's reports and activity scores in the APP.
