Counseling Corner
Hello Combs Middle School families! February has come and gone in the blink of an eye, but we are excited to get into our 4th quarter of the school year. During March, the Counseling Department is continuing to work on transitioning into the 2022-2023 school year. Here is some brief information regarding the past month and the month to come:
ARIZONA YOUTH SURVEY:
CMS 8th grade students successfully participated in the state-wide Arizona Youth Survey this past month. We appreciate their time, attention and feedback as our district and state look to strengthen the services for youth and families.
Parent University
Attention CMS parents…you and your students are invited to join us Thursday March 31, 2022 for a FREE special screening of “ScreenAgers Next Chapter: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience.” This movie addresses the common stress and anxiety that adolescents experience and shares suggestions for improved wellbeing. ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES:
CMS continues to offer free and wonderful tutoring opportunities to support student’s academic needs. Students can attend before/after school tutoring (please see the CMS website for the tutoring schedule CMS Tutoring Schedule) and can access high-quality academic support any time through the online tutoring platform “Paper.” It is our hope that students will utilize any and/or all of these tutoring opportunities to assist them in achieving their academic goals!

Athletic Updates
Cougar Family,
4th quarter sports tryouts are this week. If your child wants to participate in tryouts, please make sure they have a sports packet completed and turned into the front office. If your child does make the team please pay the athletic fee through our website or bring in payment to the front office. If we do not have payment your child will not be able to participate until we receive payment. I wanted to remind you all that our schedule can be found on our website located underneath the athletic tab. Please be aware the schedules do change throughout the season. If there is a change to the schedule I will send out an email letting you know.
Please remember that grades come first. If your child is wanting to participate in sports it is the expectation that they are passing their classes. We have an online tutoring program called PAPER, and throughout the week our teachers offer tutoring. Please take full advantage of this if you feel it is necessary.
Our 3rd quarter sports banquet will be this Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30. I look forward to seeing you there!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
