Message from Dr. Rhodes
WOW!! What a great first day!! As on any first day, our most difficult part of the day was arrival and dismissal. While we did pretty well, there are improvements to be made. Please be sure to follow our arrival map and dismissal map. Please note- we had many "walkers" today who walked to a car across the street at the shopping center. Walkers are considered students who walk home, not to a car. Our business owner neighbors were not pleased with the parking lot being taken over this afternoon. I let a couple of them know that I would make sure everyone understood their parking lot is not part of our dismissal process. I was informed that some parents posted on the Bryant Elementary Parent FB page that the businesses didn't mind their lot being used. This is inaccurate information, as they have communicated that they do care. One owner stated a towing company will be called tomorrow. I just wanted to pass the information along. In an effort to show kindness and care to our local businesses and business owners, please do not park in the shopping center parking lot. I know they will appreciate it!!
Thank You to Our Beginning of Year Sponsors
Bryant Elementary PTA- Back to School Homemade Pancake Breakfast, Meet the Teacher Dinner for Staff and countless hours volunteering to help make our school amazing!!
Westside Lexus- Staff Lunch from Chicken Salad Chick.
Chick-fil-A Katy Mills- Bagged CFA Lunch for the staff.
From Our Counselors
This year, we will continue to implement PurposeFull People within our school. We know that it takes a strong bond between home and school to build these essential traits within our students and transfer them into their everyday lives. We will focus on each of the ten traits throughout the school year. Please click here for a Welcome Letter from PurposeFull People. Click here for a year at a glance of our traits.
This month we will introduce the character trait: Respect. Please help us kick off this trait by encouraging your child to wear yellow on Monday, August 23rd. Throughout the month, students will engage in conversations and activities that help develop and apply Respect in their daily lives! As we introduce this trait, we hope to instill new ideas and skills that students will be able to apply and utilize in school and at home. We are using this definition at school: Respect: seeing good in people and things (and treating them with care). If you are looking for ways to extend this trait at home, check out our K-2 resource (en Espanol) and 3-5 resource (en Espanol). For more information, contact Penny Flores or Julie Akerson, the School Counselors.

This year we will continue to offer each family a unique dismissal tag color and number. For example, if you have multiple children attending Bryant living in the same household, you will receive a dismissal number with one set of car tags for your family. This will be available at Meet the Teacher. This system allows us to account for each student and maintain proper security measures. Student safety is always a priority!
Car riders stage for dismissal via double stack lanes in our car rider lane which wraps behind the school. Staff members will be entering your dismissal number and color into a Google Doc which is shared inside the school. It is imperative that once you have entered the left or right lane, you cannot change lanes. This causes great challenges because staff members are staging students inside using the order recorded in the Google Doc. If you are picking up your child as a car rider, please use the HANGING TAGS provided for you. If families are carpooling, a great idea is to use a hanger with clips to show more than one dismissal number on your rear-view mirror. Please hang the tag(s) from the rear view mirror, not in the corner of the window. If you do not have the physical number for the child or children you are picking up, you will not be able to pick up a child from the car rider line. See map below for more directions. Please watch this video for an overview of our car rider system.
On our transportation survey above, you can tell us your child’s teacher and the name of their daycare bus.
Students in PK-1st will be released to an adult only. If you have a PK-1st grader that you would like to walk home with an older sibling, please see the directions in the manila envelope provided during Meet the Teacher. The older sibling will not need a dismissal number to pick up their younger sibling. Parents MUST have the physical dismissal number in your hand in order to pick up your PK-1st grade child from school. If you do not have the number in your hand you will be asked by a staff member to go to the front office. Students in 3rd-5th will leave campus on their own, and will not need a dismissal number in order to exit the building.

With the GPS systems, parents, campuses and transportation personnel are able to track buses in real-time through a downloadable application from Edulog. For parents and patrons having children who are eligible for transportation services in Katy ISD, click here for information on how to download the application. Bryant's campus code is: 69167016

Bryant Elementary Parent and Student Handbook
Anyone checking out a child must be on the child's enrollment notification as a parent/guardian. In the event you need a person on your emergency contact list to pick up your child, a note and/or notice from the parent/guardian is required. A valid and unexpired ID is required for check out.
Please see the Bryant Student/Parent Handbook for all details.
In the first day packet you will find a letter in regards to lunch visitors. We normally attach a form to this letter but we have created an electronic form. Update on Yearbook from PTA
We would like to apologize for the delay in the production and shipment of the yearbooks. We have been informed that due to COVID and overload of production at the plant, that there has been a backup. Typically the estimated production time is 6-8 weeks. We feel the same frustration as you do, as we all ordered yearbooks as well. We know that this is not an ideal situation. Please know that these decisions had to be made in the height of a pandemic, not knowing what the outcome of the school year would be. Therefore we were wanting to maximize the opportunity to have as many pictures in the yearbook as possible by extending the final submission to be when the school year was completed. On a positive note the yearbooks being shipped directly to the home will eliminate any further delay. We have been informed that an email confirmation will be sent out upon shipment. All this said, knowing this plan was not the best, we plan on going back to the original method of finalizing the yearbook in the Spring. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
