The Manning Weekly Newsletter
February 26, 2021
Manning Community,
As you have now read in the community update released earlier today, the district has reached a decision, and the first day of 100% in-person learning will be Monday, April 5th (the Monday after spring break). You will also notice that the district announced a phased in approach to 100% in-person learning, starting March 15th. Manning takes great pride in all our programs and processes, including our multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). We have a dedicated MTSS team here at Manning and they will be looking at students with the most need this upcoming Monday and will be reaching out to families over the next two weeks, extending invitations to phase one of in-person learning that begins on Monday, March 15th. The MTSS team will make these decisions based on teacher referrals and a body of evidence.
Here are some important notes and consideration to remember prior to April 5th, when all hybrid students will be invited to attend our 100% in-person learning model.
- As of April 5th, all students from our hybrid model will be able to attend 100% in-person learning.
- Any hybrid families that would like to change their learning model to remote will be able to do so prior to April 5th.
- We will be sending a learning model preference survey to all hybrid families next week to ascertain whether you would like your hybrid student to attend 100% in-person learning or move to our remote model. Please note that once you chose your learning model, that is the learning model you must stay in for the remainder of the year.
- The district is holding firm on remote students staying remote, due to class sizes and resource limitations. There is an exception though, and that is for the families' that chose to go remote based on our second semester schedule change due to our performing arts offerings. If you are a performing arts family that chose to go remote because of our late drop-off/early pick-up process, you will be given the opportunity to come back to 100% in-person learning. You should have received a survey from Ms. Yocum earlier this week indicating your preferences. If not, please reach out to Ms. Yocum at Danelle.Yocum@jeffco.k12.co.us.
- All other requests from remote to 100% in-person learning will need to be approved by Manning administration. Please know that we will consider all requests, but may not be able to fulfill those requests based on resource limitations.
I will be holding a town hall meeting this upcoming Monday @ 5:30 p.m. to answer our families questions about the return to 100% in-person learning, as I know there are probably quite a few of them! I've included the Zoom link below in the "Upcoming Dates" section. I hope to see you all there! As you know, I like to couch all things in a way that denotes and upholds positivity and solution-based thinking. My dad always said to me, "if you have a problem, come with a solution, son." In the same spirit, I expect our community to follow this sage advice when we meet in our virtual monthly town hall meetings.
Finally, I think about all we have to be grateful for and the incredible opportunities we have living in the U.S.A. and we are really quite fortunate. Yes, change will happen, but as many great philosophers have stated, it's how we react to that change. As always, I thank you for presuming positive intent and continuing to model grace, open dialogue, and listening to others points of view.
Stronger Together,
Christian Ramaker

ATTENTION ALL 8TH GRADERS!
HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Hello Manning 8th Graders!
As you may have seen in the class of 2025 Google Classroom, the process of registering for 9th grade has started. With the complexity of this year, our four main high schools have created google forms for you and your family to fill out to request BOTH electives and core classes. Future Wheat Ridge students will request electives later. Even if you have entered your class requests on infinite campus, please complete your future high school's google form to ensure your requests are entered.
After students have submitted their requests for classes, the counselors here at Manning will receive those requests and pass them along for teacher approval. It is important that you complete the google form for your future high school. Please complete the form with which classes you want/feel would be best fit for you. Teachers will give their recommendations after. If the google form has classes with "A" and "B" at the end of the course name, they are yearlong courses, and you need to select both A and B.
Please complete the appropriate google form below:
Wheat Ridge High School (Only Core classes are requested at this time)
If you are attending a school different than the main four high schools we feed into, you should receive information from those specific schools about the process to register. If you have any questions, please reach out to the counselors at that high school.
Please contact Mr. Gordon (guy.gordon@jeffco.k12.co.us) or Ms. Ewald (rebecca.ewald@jeffco.k12.co.us) if you have any further questions. We apologize for this change and any confusion. but we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Thank you

Personal Care Product Drive!
Hello, my name is Maya Laz. I’m a 7th grader here at Manning.
I am doing a community service project with the Jeffco Action Center. The Action Center helps people in Jeffco who are currently experiencing homelessness or poverty. They provide food, clothing, school supplies and other forms of assistance.
What: I will be collecting hygiene items including: shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent, lotion, toothpaste, tooth brushes, and feminine hygiene products. They can use full size and travel size. The full size is great for families and the travel size works well for people experiencing homelessness.
Where: Collection bins will be placed at each entrance to Manning. I will bring anything donated to the Action Center.
When: The drive will run from March 1 - 19.
I hope that you can participate and help others in our community.
Thanks for your help!

Positive Youth Development Training
Friday, March 19th 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Positive Youth Development is an approach that helps youth serving organizations, business owners, educators, city governments, parents and whole communities. Gain a better understanding of where adolescents may be coming from by looking through a developmental lens, and how to best support youth in this turbulent time. PYD serves to increase protective factors, such as healthy youth/adult relationships and works towards promoting healthy youth behaviors and outcomes while diminishing the likelihood of negative health and social outcomes (risk factors).
ATTENDANCE NOTES:
If your student will miss school, regardless of in-person or remote, a parent or guardian must call the attendance line within 24 hours of the absence. Calling ahead of time or the morning of the absence is best practice.
