Highlighted Monthly Protocols

Proactively VABBing Our Students
We are more and more intentional about selecting activities that validate and affirm our students' cultural behaviors and juxtaposing them with activities that build and bridge our students to school culture behaviors. Making these instructional decisions means that we are VABBing our students.
Take a look at the T-Chart below. The highlighted monthly protocols are listed in bold. After watching the video, you will see that the activities listed on the left are ones that validate and affirm our learners who are cooperative, sociocentric, and have dynamic attention spans. In order for students to be be successful in tradition school culture, they need to experience those activities on the right as well.
It is important to acknowledge the cultural behaviors as we introduce each protocol. This is why you will hear "If you like to ___, then this activity is for you!" It is so important for students to understand the WHY.
