Frog Pond School Newsletter 10/2018
Volume 18-19 Issue 2
Mr. Troy Henderson, Principal
Greetings Frog Pond Parents,
November is the perfect time of year to get outside and enjoy the chilly air and falling leaves. It’s a time when we vote, celebrate our Veterans and give thanks.
Frog Pond School is excited to host the 6th grade Veterans Day assembly this year. Our students will be interviewing Veterans from all branches of our military in preparation for this important celebration. The Lunch Buddy program is continuing this year and we have had a great response so far. Please visit our website or facebook page for the sign up link.
There will be an early dismissal day on November 21st and the district will be closed on November 22nd and 23rd for the Thanksgiving holiday. Fall parent/teacher conferences will be held on November 28th, 29th and 30th. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their academic progress, ask questions or address concerns. I encourage every parent to attend if possible.
In closing, I would like to take this time to wish all of you a happy, healthy Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.
Sincerely,
Troy Henderson
Frog Pond School Principal

Dear Parents,
I’m excited to tell you about a very special program I’m coordinating at our school in conjunction with Crayola. It’s called Crayola ColorCycle – an amazing program devised to repurpose used markers rather than sending them to landfills!
The ColorCycle program has repurposed more than 70 tons of expended markers in the United States and Canada since 2013, and uses the most advanced plastic conversion technologies available today to make wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles as well as to generate electricity that can be used to heat homes, cook food, and power vehicles.
All around the Little Egg Harbor School District, students and teachers will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house- even non-Crayola brands! Highlighters and dry erase markers can also be included. Drop-off boxes will be located around the school for your child to deposit the markers.
Thank you in advance for participating! With the help of parents like you across the country, the Crayola ColorCycle program can continue to keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year.
Remember, don’t throw out that used marker—ColorCycle it!
Sincerely,
Trina Reigelman

Conduct On Buses
In view of the fact a bus is an extension of the classroom, the Board shall require children to conduct themselves on the bus in a manner consistent with established standards for classroom behavior. In cases when a child does not conduct himself/herself properly on a school bus, such instances are to be brought to the attention of the Building Principal or his/her designee. The bus driver will notify the Building Administrator by using a written Bus Incident Report.
Consequences
Δ The first formal referral for misconduct on the school bus shall result in a warning letter being sent home. Further disciplinary action may be taken if warranted at this time.
Δ If a child is formally referred a second time for misconduct, the child may receive time in school detention, after school detention, in-school suspension, or a suspension from the bus. The length of the suspension time will be determined by the school administration. The third offense may result in a longer suspension of up to ten days.
Δ If the child continues to present disciplinary problems on the school bus, the Board of Education may consider revoking transportation privileges, via the school bus, for a determined period of time recommended by the Building Principal or his/her designee.
If, in the opinion of the school administrator or his/her designee, a child’s conduct seriously jeopardizes the health and safety of the school bus driver and pupils on the bus, the Building Principal or his/her designee may immediately suspend the said child.
When a child is suspended from the school bus, they will not be permitted to ride the regular bus, or the after school bus. It will be the responsibility of the parents to transport the child to and from school safely.
