Principal's Message
Welcome Back, Families!
Back to School time is here. It’s been an unusual summer of vacations and stay-cations, tempered by the weight of social change, the challenges of curbing a pandemic, and so many unknowns that affect educators, students, and families. A year ago I would have thought I was being overly dramatic; but every morning we open our eyes to be reminded that this is our reality. Although we’re experiencing a most unusual opening of the school year, the most important things remain: children and families need educators. Students must learn and we love to teach them!
As difficult as these times may be, we are still privileged to have the opportunity to find new creative ways to deliver public education that will forever change it. It’s not an exaggeration to say that we are on the forefront of something big. I ask that you embrace this seismic shift and run with it. Be the empathetic, joyful, motivated, and forgiving problem solver we want our children to be.
The Cambrian School District’s Virtual School Program (VSP) is an example of problem solving designed to meet current needs of our community’s families and staff. VSP will deliver the same quality education as all the campuses in the district, but using an online platform all year long. In the spring, parents will have the opportunity to opt back to a campus program on Cambrian school sites with available space.
This year I am serving as site administrator for both Sartorette Elementary School and the Cambrian School District’s Virtual School Program (VSP). My capacity with the VSP is to provide support for curriculum and programming while teacher leads will help support the VSP team building community.
I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such an esteemed group of educators. Since I’ve been a Cambrian parent, and on staff at Price, Steindorf, and Sartorette, this will be a reunion for some and a chance to finally work with others whose stellar reputations precede them.
On Monday, 8/17/20, class lists will be available on the Sartorette website. That same day a video will be emailed to families to prepare students and families for the first days of school. On Tuesday, 8/18/20, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher providing important information for joining class on the first day of school. Wednesday, 8/19/20, is the first day of school.
Thank you for all you’re doing to prepare for the new school year. We will be a community that leans on each other, takes care of each other, collaborates like never before, and becomes stronger than ever together.
I am incredibly proud to start this second year as principal with our Cambrian community!
Warmly,
Debbie Stein
Principal
