DETOUR TO DISCOVERY

Dear Robb Family,

With the 1st Quarter in our rear view mirror, the outlook in front of us is clearer, more optimistic, hopeful, and greater than where we were because of the growth and progress we've achieved TOGETHER. We thank you for getting through the first leg of the race with us.

Whether you were providing support at home or ensuring you children arrived at school, we thank you for the love, support and commitment you have shown the Robb Family. We praise you for being BOLD and BELIEVING in us, even when the views were not always pretty or familiar, or the directions were not always clear or specific. You continued to push ahead and not give up.

Like the road trips we take in life, taking detours are a common occurrence. When we choose to see a detour as time wasted and a hinderance, the opportunity dissolves in the inconvenience. But when we embrace the detour, as a part of the journey and the process, it can lead to new discoveries about oneself that come with adapting to unfamiliar places, feeling lost or being caught in areas that can be intimidating and not pleasing to the heart and eyes.

Changes in the educational system are being experienced at all levels from Pre-K to Higher-Ed. The impact is being felt from the students to teachers to administrators to the parents and community members. The detours forced upon us, have lead to new discoveries of untapped potential and possibility. The pressure of not wanting our students to backslide have advanced us to rise, BE BOLD, resourceful and be fast learners.

By diverging into the unknown, on a path not yet taken, we are able to find strength, courage and creativity and reinforce our purpose as educators, parents and community members to walk first, pave a way for our students to follow and keep pressing forward.

If we have to look back, it's to smile at how far we've come and how far we are going to go.

TOGETHER WE RISE!

TRANSFORMATIONAL TEACHERS INSTITUTE

Robb Elementary has set a goal to have 100% of our Teachers get certified in the Transformational Teachers Institute by May of 2021. Robb Teachers, Mercedes Salas, Tiffany Massey, Chastity Martinez, Gianna Salazar, Arnulfo Reyes, Elsa Avila, Stephanie Zook, and Jennieka Rodriguez participated in the Transformational Teachers Institute on Saturday. This three-day professional development series was designed utilizing research-based resources that have proven effective in assisting schools improve student achievement. Teachers, as well as participating administrators, explore leadership characteristics and opportunities, collaboration practices, and data-driven decision making to inform instruction. These strategies, when put into practice, translate to increased student and teacher efficacy. The Institute led by Consultant Jamie Goodwin from the Region 20 Service Center include:

Module 1 Unleashing Leadership – Teachers develop a culture of leadership that

communicates and seeks opportunities.

Module 2 Synergistic Thinking – Teachers transform from individuals working in

isolation to high-functioning teams that support student success.

Module 3 Powerful Planning – High-functioning teams collaborate and embrace the

cycle of teaching and learning.
