First Grade News
Mrs. McMullen's Class
Dear Parents,
Welcome to first grade! It’s going to be an exciting year.
In this newsletter, I have included information that I hope will be helpful in making the transition to first grade an easier one. I will send home a newsletter each month via Remind and/or in your child's B.E.E. Folder. Our newsletter will always include a short note from me, curriculum objectives for the month, and important upcoming dates to remember.
I LOVE parent volunteers, but I do not ask you to start until our daily routines and expectations are in place (usually around the end of October or beginning of November). At Open House, I will have a sign-up sheet available for those interested in volunteering in the classroom.
I am a strong believer in good parent/teacher communication; if you have ANY questions, concerns or opportunities, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can reach me in the B.E.E. folders, through Remind, by phone, or by email. I am looking forward to a GREAT year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. McMullen
SNACK
We will have a short snack break each morning. Your child may bring a snack each day to get them through until lunch. Since we will be working and our papers and supplies will be out, I am asking that students do not bring juice or liquid snacks at this time. Snacks like granola bars, crackers, cheese sticks, popcorn, pretzels, and dry cereals work well. Thank you for understanding.
Birthdays
Each child will have the opportunity to celebrate his/her birthday during the school year. If their birthday does not fall on a school day or during the school year, I will send a note letting you know when we will celebrate. If you wish, you may send a store bought treat (there is a freezer available in the cafeteria), or purchase treats from the school cafeteria. A separate form will be sent home from the cafeteria explaining how to order and the cost.
Attendance
It is important for your child to attend school each day. If they need to be absent for some reason, it is important that you notify the office (538-3481) and send in a note when they return to school explaining their absence.
