Attendance
Showing up for school on a regular basis has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and become more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important to success in school and life.
We do our best to develop a positive school climate where all students feel valued. We work to build positive relationships with families and reach out to families for students that need support. As a school, we monitor attendance data for each and every student and work with families to remove barriers to getting students to school.
The beginning of the school year represents a time when students can renew healthy habits of getting to school each day and be on time. Here are a few practical tips to help support regular attendance:
Make sure your children keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
Turn off all electronic devices, including TV, phones, and tablets at bedtime. Have children keep their phone outside of their bedroom.
Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
Ensure your students go to school every day unless they are truly sick.
Avoid scheduling vacations and doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your children feels anxious about going to school.
Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, neighbor, or another parent to take your child to school.
Thanks for your continued support in ensuring students get to school so they can get the most out of their education and so they can connect with our staff and their peers. Below are two resources to help your student have a successful transition back to school and highlight the importance of attendance.
Attendance Protocol
This is a reminder of the importance of reporting an absence if a student is going to be missing from school. Families can complete the Absence Form (click here) instead of calling school or emailing the office. If you have questions or are unable to complete this form you can still call the office at (608) 592-3855.
The form is also accessible through the https://primary.lodi.k12.wi.us/ page with a link that says “Report an Absence” on the main page.
Sneak-a-Peek
We are looking forward to having families back in our building for our Sneak-a-Peek nights. The main goal of this evening is to ease the transition back to school for students and families. Students will have the opportunity to find their classroom, find their cubby, meet their teachers, and drop off supplies.
- Monday, August 21 3:30-5:30 pm 4K am and K-2
- Tuesday, August 22 3:30-5:30 pm 4K pm

Heritage Park Update - Stride With Lodi Pride Funds
We are excited to share that the improvement project for Heritage Park, located behind Lodi Primary School, is completed and ready for our students to use on our first day of school on Wednesday, August 23! We would like to first thank all the families that have supported our schools during the Stride with Lodi Pride event the last two years which funded this project. Thank you Timothy Ripp, with Graphite to Green, for designing the plan for improving the area next to the large green slide. In addition, we want to thank Stephanie and Brian, with Brian Schmidt Enterprises, for excavating and rebuilding this space. We greatly appreciate their donation of $2500 towards this Heritage Park project. We know that our students and families in the community will enjoy this space for years to come

Meet Dillion - Registered Therapy Dog
We are so excited to introduce Dillon, a 1 year old golden
Retriever! Dillon is a Registered Therapy Dog team with Val Bilkey, our Primary School Counselor. When Dillon is at school she will be greeting learners in the mornings, meeting with kids 1:1 and in small groups, and occasionally may join classrooms. If you have any questions or concerns, or prefer your child not interact with Dillon, please email or call Mrs. Bilkey bilkeva@lodischoolswi.org.
Message from Lodi Food Service Program
Welcome back greetings from Taher!
We are excited to begin a new year! Just a few notes for everyone and a few reminders.
- We will be offering breakfast in two areas again this year. The first area is the cafeteria and the second area will be in the hallway as students come in from the bus. We want everyone to have an opportunity to eat a breakfast at school if they are hungry.
- We will again be offering students seconds on the main entrée at lunch for an extra fee. Students may also purchase a second milk for a fee. Please see new prices on the district website. An example would be a second hot dog when that is on the menu. You will see an extra charge on your account.
- We will be doing a fresh vegetable/fruit bar every day along with the main entrée. Students will get to pick and choose what they want to eat. We will still have a hot vegetable on the line. We will still be checking to make sure they have all the right components to have a complete meal. Every month we have a Harvest of the Month special. It highlights a specific fruit, a vegetable and an herb. We will have these on the bar also so they can try new foods.
- Please watch the menu for special treat days. We do this a couple times a month we have a smart snack dessert with the hot meal lunch. The whole meal must be purchased in order to get the treat. So please watch for these and sign your child up for the meal so they can have the treat.
Thank you for participating in our foodservice lunch program! We appreciate the support for our programs.
