SES Family and Community Newsletter: January 2023
JCPS Goal: By the end of the 2023-24 school year, 100% of Johnston County Public Schools will earn a school letter grade of A, B, or C.
Our vision:
SES students are life-long learners encouraged by home, school, and the community. They will meet the challenges and high expectations of an ever-changing world. They will work to their fullest potential to make a positive difference in the school, community, and the world.
Welcome to Our Family and Community Newsletter
DEAR SES FAMILIES,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you were able to enjoy a peaceful and happy winter vacation. We are delighted to welcome our students back for a new year of success and excellence.
As we return to school, please continue to focus on good school attendance for the remainder of the school year. Attending school regularly supports better student outcomes. For more attendance information, please visit our Attendance Matters website.
Parents and families, we are very excited about our first Capturing Kids Hearts Winning Culture event. Parents and guardians will learn about the CKH components we use to impact the positive climate & culture at our school. Our goal is for our families to gain skills they can use at home, in the workplace, or in any setting to influence positive culture and empowerment. More information is below, or contact our front office. Please do not miss it!
The window for the Panomara survey for students opens on January 9th and closes on the 23rd. Students will receive an email to access the survey on January 9th. The survey will be taken at school.
Parents and guardians, we still need one member for our Parent Advisory Council. We are looking for members who are committed to the improvement of our school. Please visit our PAC website or contact Ms. Rosado to learn more about how you can apply.
Working together, we will continue to build excellence for our students.
Respectfully,
Ms. Rosado

CKH Social Contract Focus Word
We will continue to highlight our social contract focus word of the month and challenge our SES family to participate in challenges related to the word each week. The focus words are concepts commonly found on social contracts and will help to keep us all focused on upholding the things we’ve agreed to do and value. Each month the word is different, and every week, students can participate in challenges that allow them to practice the social contract focus word of the month. Every student, family, and staff member can do the challenges!
The social contract focus word this month is respect. Respect is the willingness and ability to act professionally and thoughtfully with ourselves and others. Respect helps us and others to be able to express ourselves without fear of being judged, humiliated, or discriminated against.
To help support respect at home, please take a look at the challenges for this month, and the newsletter, and discuss or participate with your child at home.
Focus word of the month challenges can be found here.
