Smallpox
Smallpox is a serious viral disease that may have survived
Has Smallpox Survived?
Smallpox is a highly infectious disease that is often fatal. The disease was thought to be eradicated, but Mitty Blake, a high school, has found Smallpox scabs and Smallpox may have survived. The disease would rapidly spread and thrive in a densely populated city such as New York.
There is no known effective treatment for Smallpox and the only prevention is vaccination. Smallpox has a morality rate of thirty-percent and the disease can spread from face-to-face contact and from bodily fluids. Symptoms of Smallpox are very similar to the influenza, but the symptoms soon become very harsh. Unbearable itchy rashes and high fever are just some of the few horrifying symptoms of Smallpox.
Smallpox should be quarantined or isolated to prevent further infectivity, and people should be more sanitary when engaging in physical activities. Washing your hand and avoiding touching areas above your neck are great ways to decrease the chance of contracting Smallpox.
