-Occurs when some of the tissue in the heart doesn't receive its normal blood supply and dies

Symptoms (warning signs)

- Uncomfortable pressure or pain in the center of the chest lasting for two minutes or longer

- Pain spreading to the shoulder neck or arms

- Severe pain, dizziness, fainting, sweating, extreme anxiety, nausea, or shortness of breath


Cause- Blood clot in the coronary artery that has been narrowed by Atherosclerosis


- Over a million people in the US have suffered a heart attack and 500,000 of them die

- A heart attack occurs every 20 seconds with a heart attack death about every minute

-Costs related to a heart attack exceed 60 billion dollars a year


An electrocardiogram is a simple painless test that detects and records the hearts electrical activity. It can show signs of heart damage and signs of a previous or current heart attack.


- Keep your blood pressure at a normal level

- Keep your cholesterol low

- Be active

- Smoke-free
