Reading with the Cheetahs
September/October 2018
Hello,
I am Mrs. Hagan, one of the 3 reading teachers at Crestview. Reading teachers work with small groups of students everyday. Reading groups change often during the school year due to student's changing needs. Though, we might only work with your child for a short time, please know we are always available if you ever have any questions about helping your child reach their reading goals. I will send out newsletters, such as this one, throughout the school year to celebrate, highlight, and demonstrate the work we are doing within our reading groups.
RESOURCES
How can I support my child at home with reading?
We are so thankful for your partnership this school year in helping your child reach their reading goals. With technology at our fingertips and access to public libraries in our community, there are many great ways to engage your child in meaningful reading activities from home. Below are a few ideas to get you started this school year.
Xplor Magazine Subscription (Free)
Do you have a child who LOVES reading informational text? Do you need more materials for your child to read at home? Xplor is a kid-friendly magazine subscription that Missouri Conversation will mail to your home each month (and it's FREE)! Use the link below to subscribe now!
Home Reading Spot
This week, help your child identify their own personal reading spot at home. It should be an area with little distractions, have good lighting, and be comfortable. By doing this you are promoting the use of good reading habits outside of school and encouraging reading at home.
