Jackie Robinson is my role model because he defied everyone and became the first black baseball player in the MLB. He was born 1/31/1919. He grew up to be the first black baseball player in the MLB. In the league he only made $5,000 and a $3,500 bonus.

Jackie's accomplishments and interesting facts
Jackie Robinson was the first black player in the MLB.He had a career batting average of .311 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was inducted into the National Hall of Fame his first year of eligiblity. He was the first MLB player to appear on a US postage stamp. Also his number was the first ever to be retired for every team. Also he was the first four-sport letter winner at UCLA in baseball, football, basketball, and track. One of his most famous quotes is "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... All I ask is that you respect me as a human being."
