Letters from the RAs
Summer '18 ep.1
Meet Anais
Hey! My name is Anais (on-ah-ees), I am studying psychology/counseling and creative writing/art at the college. I am from Chicago, but I’ve always had family in Arizona. My sun sign is a Pisces, and I’m an emotional mermaid. Some of my hobbies include: watching anime, painting, watching movies, chilling with essential oils, listening to music, crafts, and connecting with people. I have two moms, a dad, and a puppy named Huey. Surprisingly I am not super outdoorsy, but I enjoy nature in my own way and my favorite season is a Chicago fall. I chose Prescott College because I struggled my entire education because of the traditional teaching style. Competency-based learning and experiential education really do make a difference in non-traditional learners. The most significant piece of advice I would give to people living in the village is to find your on-campus family. Make some friends, get to know your RA, and make sure to advocate for yourself. If something is bothering, you or you need a hug let someone know! My favorite thing about the village is the community. I love walking around and hearing people talking or listening to music and smelling dinner cooking. When I walk around everyone knows me, and I know them which makes me always feel safe and comfortable. I am beyond excited to be an RA because I want to meet people, but I also wish to be a support system. If one of my residents or any other resident needs anything at all, no matter how little it may seem, I will be there for them. I want to ensure that every resident feels happy about their situation and that no one misses home too much.
