Newsletter Term 4 2016 - Week 2

A Message from our Principal

Tena koutou katoa, nga mihi nui kia koutou katoa.

Greetings parents, whanau and members of our school community.

Great to see the sun and temperatures more aligned with summer. With the long weekend ahead lets hope this trend continues right through until Monday.

Use of Inappropriate Language

It has been brought to my notice that a number of our students have been swearing and using language that is unacceptable here at our school. We have spoken with the students today about the types of language that aren’t acceptable. Can parents please reinforce this message at home, so we have a positive school environment where students interact with each other and their teacher in a way that shows Respect to everyone in our school.

Room Matai/Totara Camp

We hope everyone really enjoys the opportunities that Sarah and Emily have put together for a successful camp next week. Thank you to the many parents who are helping with transport and supervision during the camp. We can’t do this on our own. A reminder to the students that while you are at camp, our school expectations go with you. Listen to your teachers and the parents who are responsible for your group and follow their instructions, that are there to help keep you all safe.

Have fun and we look forward to your return next Friday.

School Hats

As a school we all need to take being sun smart seriously. We know the risks of exposure to the harmful rays of the sun and the long-term damage that can be done while you are young. During breaks and sessions outside the classroom, everyone needs to wear a hat and sun block on exposed face, arms and legs.

Neil has begun the job of treating the pool so we can begin swimming lessons around week 6. If any parents would like a pool key for the summer holidays please contact Tania in the office. If we have 15 – 20 parents interested it will make it worthwhile for the pool to remain open during that time.

Once the pool is open for instruction, it would be great to see 100% of our students taking the opportunity to improve their water confidence and swimming skills.

Principal’s Award this week goes to Reece Louden for always giving his best in everything he does. Well-done Reece.

Have a great long weekend.

These make fantastic Christmas presents. Your child/ren will be bringing home a order form shortly. This will have prices etc on them. Please ensure you have these back to school as soon as possible. Feel free to take a look at some samples at the office, if you haven't seen them before.

The MAD Group AGM will be held on 5th December @ 6.30pm, in the GBD. If you plan to attend, please let Tania know on 868 2747.

There will be food stalls here too, if anyone would like to come and help please let Jayne know. We are looking for parents or senior students to come and help out on the day. Also, donations of sausages, bread, tomato sauce, milk and bananas would be very helpful indeed. All items can be dropped off at the office to Tania. Thank you, see you there.
