Ms. Kramr's 3rd Grade Class
Week of September 14-18
What are we learning this week?
Math- We are still exploring with 4 digit numbers in place value but now we’re rounding to the nearest ten or hundred! After we round, we’ll add or subtract depending upon what the problem is asking us to do. *Math Test on Monday, Sept. 21st! Review will come home Thursday and Friday. Ask your child to explain how to round a number to the nearest 10 or 100.
(Hint: use a 3 digit number like 156 or 824).
Reading- This week we will be focusing on summarizing. The students will be exposed to a variety of literature and taught strategies to create a summary of their own. They will start off by working as a group to create a class summary of a story to working with partners and eventually working independently creating a summary. Ask your child to describe the beginning, middle, and end of the story as you engage in your nightly reading.
Science/Social Studies- Sept. 17th is Constitution Day!! That means this week is Freedom Week. We will be exploring with the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Preamble. Ask your child what one of the amendments is numbers 1-5.
