East Maitland P S serves the community of East Maitland and the growth areas of Shamrock Hill and Rathluba. Context
East Maitland Public School has a current enrolment of approximately 550 students (395 families), comprising of 25 classes, including 3 Multi-Categorical Support Classes . Boys make up 54% of the student population in comparison to girls 46%. 10% of the student population identify as Aboriginal.
The school is developing a common ethos of cooperation and willingness to participate in professional development to improve student outcomes and student engagement. Through the establishment of a comprehensive and systematic Professional Learning framework all staff will be supported as highly competent practitioners. Each staff member has the opportunity to participate in external training opportunities and internal development and mentoring, including Focus On Reading, Getting Started, Best Start and additional support through the 47 schools pilot.
