Fall 2021 Extracurricular Program
Round 2 Information
Welcome to WILDLife! Given the excitement surrounding our first round of clubs, we have been able to add additional spots and/or days to some of our groups. Please note the following updates:
- Round 2 registration opens this Monday, September 27, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.
- Round 2 registration will end on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. However, if a club has reached its maximum capacity, the availability to register for that club may close.
- Families may register for clubs by visiting the LCPS Online School Payments System.
- Clubs will be held weekly on either Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays after school, starting the week of October 4, 2021.
- Students are permitted to enroll in multiple clubs or organizations, schedule permitting.
- There will be a general fee of $25 for the fall session for each club. Club sponsors will indicate approximate additional materials fees in the catalog description.
- If your child is enrolling in multiple clubs, a separate registration must be completed for each club. If a club is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a refund. Admission is capped and limited for each club and your child may not receive his/her first choice. There will be no refunds for voluntary withdrawals, and credits will not be issued. Clubs cannot be switched.
- Activity buses will be provided, but capacity is limited and parent transportation is encouraged.

Anime & Manga Club

Do you LOVE anime? Do you LOVE manga? Are you not quite sure yet but are curious to find out? Join Willard’s Anime/Manga Club to explore this fun art and animation style within a welcoming and passionate community! Anime/Manga Club activities include: club discussions about our favorite shows and books, group projects designing and creating our own anime characters and storylines, exploring the world of manga and learning how to properly read manga, discovering new shows to watch, participating in fun club debates, sharing our passions and talent in our Quick Show N’ Tells every club meeting, learning basic Japanese, and SO much more! Archery Club

Do your heroes include Katniss Everdeen, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Robin Hood, or Merida? Have you always wondered what it is like to shoot a bow and arrow? Are you an experienced archer looking to fine tune your skills? Then archery club is for you! We will learn all about the equipment and safety of archery, and you will get a chance to practice shooting every week!
Basketball Club

Calling all students who have interest in both playing basketball and learning about all things basketball. We will be doing everything from learning fundamentals to playing basketball games to learning about basketball rules and basketball history through trivia.
Canvas Mural Art Club

We will be creating a canvas mural to be hung in our beautiful school. This is an opportunity to learn how to craft artistic masterpieces while working together with your fellow Wildcats.

Creative Writing Club

Creative Writing Club will be a safe space for students to explore writing in a variety of genres and forms while strengthening their writing craft. Students will have the chance to share their work with their peers to receive feedback and to engage in an open and meaningful dialogue about writing. We will write in a variety of genres that students may find appealing, such as: Scary Stories, Dystopian, and Fantasy. All are welcome to join! E-mail Marina.Xander@lcps.org with any questions.

Culture of Gaming Club

Additional Materials: If interested in Warhammer, a fee will apply to purchase paints and supplies. A waiver must also be signed by parents to participate in Warhammer activities if the student is younger than 12 years of age.
This club will focus on building a culture of gaming at Willard. This will include video games and tabletop games such as Warhammer and Magic the Gathering. We will explore different gaming modes and different age-appropriate games.
Dance Club

Let’s dance! Enjoy learning a variety of ballroom dances including Latin and swing. Basic steps will be taught for Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot, Salsa, Bachata, Tango, and Club Swing. Please note all of these dances are “partner dances." We will be wearing masks and will sanitize our hands, but students will be paired up with partners and have contact during the instructional time.
Debate Club

Debate Club is the place to build confidence in your public speaking and communication skills in a formal, but fun, setting. You will learn how to express your beliefs clearly and concisely and to develop sound arguments. You will also become more informed about current events and global affairs and have a space to discuss them with your peers!
Do-Gooders Service Club

Additional Materials: Students will choose service projects, which could incur costs up to $20.00.
Engaging students in community service locally and more country wide. Services may include fundraising for causes decided on by students, creating duffle bags for foster kids, raising money for pediatric cancer research with an Alex’s Lemonade Stand, helping set up a compost area/rain barrel for cafeteria leftovers and having water for teacher plants, courtyard plants, and more!
Drama Club

The D&D Club is for anyone interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons. This club welcomes both beginners and veterans of the game. Students who have already played will be given time and space to play a campaign of their choice. Beginners to Dungeons and Dragons will be taught the basics and get a chance to start their own adventures.
Environmental Club

Do you enjoy the great outdoors? Do you have or want to grow your appreciation for other living things and our beautiful world? Do you want to help make sure the natural parts of this earth are protected and cared for? In Environmental Club, we will explore the natural world around us, work to help protect it, and even learn about careers where we can do just that! Which issues will we focus on? It’s up to you and our other members! Come help us learn and make a difference at Willard by joining Environmental Club! Girl Up Club

Girl Up is an organization created by the United Nations Foundation, which aims to create a more equal and just world for girls. With more than 4,500 clubs in over 125 countries, we are inspiring a generation of girls to be a force of change for gender and social equality. Girls will learn about gender issues, advocate, and complete service projects and fundraisers on behalf of girls both locally and around the world.
Harry Potter Club

Additional Materials: Students will participate in “classes,” that require a few small objects to purchase, such as: potion jar, a pot for planting, etc. These items will be communicated once the club begins and can wait to be purchased.
Have you ever wanted to bring the wizarding world of Harry Potter to life? Now is your chance! Join the Willard Chapter of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and participate in all things magical. You will be sorted in a Hogwarts House (unless you already have one), participate in “classes” such as Potions Class, Herbology, Spells/Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. We will also compete for the “House Cup” through games of “Quidditch,” the Tri-Wizard “Tournament,” duels, and much more! Bring your cloak, a wand (if you have one, if not – we will make you one!), and your wonderfully magical selves!
{Students should have knowledge of at least Book One (or the movie): Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone --- Those who participated in this club last year, the club will contain the same activities we completed virtually but now in person.}
Latin Club

Latin Club will provide an opportunity for Latin students at Willard to explore Roman architecture, mythology, and history by playing games, building structures, and designing a model of the ancient city of Pompeii!
Positive Affirmations Club (PAC)

This club will be focused on advocacy, character building and community service activities, positive affirmations, and random acts of kindness. We will work toward supporting scholars' efforts to "create a better world, one act of kindness at a time."
Science Olympiad

Do you love STEM? Science Olympiad is a great way to show off your science skills while participating in Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events. If you have an appreciation for STEM and a desire to show your skills, Science Olympiad is for you! Science Olympiad is team-based, so we will use teamwork, problem solving, and collaboration to explore STEM. We will focus on exploring Science Olympiad events in preparation for competition next school year.
Video Gaming Club

In Video Gaming Club, students will have the opportunity to play different games with other students and hopefully make new friends. The students will decide what games they want to play. Games can be played on different platforms that they will need to bring with them to school. Last year, the games that were played were: Minecraft, Roblox, Among Us, Fortnite, Splatoon 2, and Smash Bros.
