A Message from the Principal...
Dear friends,
We made it to the final week before break. I know it has been a long haul (longer than usual with the extra week), but it sure will be nice to have two weeks of time to enjoy with our families and friends. I wanted to let you know that we received positive feedback from LSS regarding our SPSA Plan. They said our SMART goals were very well-written and we did a great job of using baseline data and writing specific plans. Thank you all so much for your contributions to our learning plan.
I also need to ask a favor. Last week our Chrome books took a pretty hard hit in terms of damage to the LCD displays. Teachers, will you please review proper handling procedures with your students. Generally, they have been very good, but the money we have had to spend for repairs this past week could have funded nearly two brand new Chrome books. Whatever you can do to help is much appreciated.
I will close with a reminder that work samples for quarter two common assessments are due Friday. Please contact your I Team rep if you have any questions on how to submit student work.
Sincerely,
ACTION NEEDED
Superintendent Phelps will visit us on December 21st at 3:30pm in the LRC
Speak Up Survey- Your voice is needed
Speak Up Research Project for Digital Learning
The Speak Up Project for Digital Learning, facilitated by Project Tomorrow®, gives education stakeholders the opportunity to share their viewpoints about key educational issues, particularly concerning digital learning and the use of technology to support future ready schools. By participating today, you are ensuring your voice is heard not only by your school and district but at the state and national level as findings are summarized and shared with national and state policy makers every year. Speak Up is both a national research project and a free service to all schools and districts. Poway Unified is participating in the survey this year and is asking teachers and staff to participate.

Book of the Month: City of Ember written by Jeanne DuPrau
Summary: Many hundreds of years ago, the city of Ember was created by the Builders to contain everything needed for human survival. It worked…but now the storerooms are almost out of food, crops are blighted, corruption is spreading through the city and worst of all—the lights are failing. Soon Ember could be engulfed by darkness…
But when two children, Lina and Doon, discover fragments of an ancient parchment, they begin to wonder if there could be a way out of Ember. Can they decipher the words from long ago and find a new future for everyone? Will the people of Ember listen to them? " (goodreads).
