Ott's Outlook
April 2023
What makes Temple ISD so great? It's the people. It’s that simple. We have incredible students who are supported by our amazing families and community members and at the heart of every interaction is a dedicated and caring Temple ISD staff member.
I am truly humbled to lead the 1400+ staff members who make up the Temple ISD family. These highly skilled and talented employees prepare over 1.4million meals, drive 595,000+ miles, monitor approximately 15,000 electronic devices, and maintain 1.6 million square feet of facilities in addition to providing for the instructional, emotional and physical needs of our 8600+ students. When you take a minute and really let this soak in, you realize how truly remarkable this really is. This is a large organization that, in tandem with parents, make up the epicenter for our future.
As a continuation of our Temple ISD Leadership Definition, our next pillar is “Commit to Excellence”. As a reminder, it is one of the three core components of our Leadership Definition Framework - the first pillar was “Connect with All”. Successful leaders can set the direction of an organization, manage change implementation, incorporate new ideas, and achieve actionable results that moves the system forward. However, they cannot do this alone. This must be done in collaboration with many stakeholders and representative of the values of our community. The video below expands on what “commitment to excellence” means in Temple ISD. We will continue to release more about our leadership definition and have developed a webpage HERE that will tell the story of this learning journey. We are rolling this out to our staff as well and look forward to growing our future leaders in a way that aligns with our leadership definition. This ensures that we put the right leaders in front of our children and staff. I appreciate your support as we embark on this leadership journey.
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
