An Update on the Investigation
Many things were destroyed that night, and while the loss of the department fish is heart-wrenching and cruel, the department does not necessarily want to replace him at this time. There are greater needs and priorities to return to their level of functionality and this includes the flat screen tv that was destroyed, glassware for labs, and two microscopes that were stolen.
Lastly, the department has sent a heartfelt email expressing their gratitude for their staff and the level of support they received that Monday and moving forward as well, with check-ins, flexibility, and so much more. They are concerned about teachers and staff willing and wanting to generously spend their own money to help out with restoration, and want to discourage this- all of the emotional support has been amazing.

Successes and Celebrations!
- A great nod to the science department and Ms. Ledesma, whose flexibility and communication on Monday were fantastic, and the lesson spontaneity that day meant that our students didn't skip a beat. Such outstanding professionalism!
- Kudos to Craig, Alex and the entire custodial and M&O department for quick and effective clean up efforts!
- Outstanding work was done by Jeff Garaventa (our site technician) and our campus supervisors, whose quick investigative work helped quickly get information about what had happened. Additionally, both our supervisors and our teachers' relationships with students led to many coming forward with information as well. Relationships matter!
- Huge kudos and thank you to Lois Wullenweber, whose assistance in the break-in investigation was key to completing the puzzle we were working on.
- Congrats to Rosie Reid, who completed her last act in her year-round reign as California State Teacher of the Year!
- Congrats to our girls and boys basketball teams for winning Battle of the Creek! Boys Basketball won for the first time since 2011!
- Congrats and good luck to our jazz band and Greg Brown, who just submitted their entry tape for admission to the 2020 Next Gen Jazz Festival in Monterey! Over 200 schools submit entries, and 12 are selected to compete, in a blind listening audition.
