Student Safety is Important to SMS
Drivers: When dropping students off along Lumber Avenue, please do not allow them to run across the street. This creates dangerous situations for your child and drivers who may not see them. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!
Snow fun-coming up
We've had a great long fall, but winter will come!
Make sure you dress so that you won't be cold
Cold Weather Reminders!
Dress Up
Please make sure that your child is dressing for the weather. Toques, mitts, scarves, boots and ski pants are all important for kids to stay dry and warm! SMS Staff encourage students to dress appropriately when they are heading outdoors. We will keep students inside when the temperature drops below -28. So far we have not had that kind of weather so we've had lots of time to enjoy the outdoors!
Bus Delays
The HSD Website contains information regarding Bus Delays (hsd.ca). All school buses that are late for whatever reason will be posted on the site. The Bus Transportation Department does not call individual homes when buses are cancelled or running late.
Parent Notification of School Closure
In the case of school closure or the cancellation of bus service throughout HSD, parents will receive a phone message from the division’s information call system, as well as, several announcements will be made between 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM on a variety of local and provincial media outlets, including: AM 1250, Mix 96.7, SteinbachOnline.com, and CJOB. Information will also be posted hsd.ca regarding school closures.

Need Help with Homework?
The "My Learning at Home" website, www.manitoba.ca/mylearningathome/, provides links to over 200 videos and animations that explain challenging concepts in the areas of Mathematics and Science. Selected specifically for Grades 5 to 8 students, each video and animation has been annotated and organized by grade level to correspond with the curriculum.
We hope that "My Learning at Home" proves to be a useful resource for middle years students as they work to succeed in school.
