See Something, Say Something - Forest Grove Safety Update
The sense of ownership that Forest Grove families have in our school is apparent in the way that we look out for each other. One important way that you can keep our campus safe is by following our request that if you see something, say something.
Simply put, this phrase means informing us if you encounter anything that looks suspicious. When a report is made to our school, administration immediately investigates the situation, and when necessary, contacts the Pacific Grove Police Department.
A couple of improvements to campus safety you will be seeing soon are:
Hardware added to the newly installed pedestrian gates in our fencing that allow the gates to be opened from inside our campus, but not from outside the fence.
Additional fencing added to the front of our school which allow the gates to be locked if our school needed to execute our secure campus protocol.
Lock-Blok devices on our outward swinging doors that allow staff to lock doors with our having to use their keys in an emergency.
We welcome all feedback regarding the safety of our school, and we will be hosting a school safety night in conjunction with our School Goal Review Night which will be held after Winter Break.
District Assessments Coming in October and November
Forest Grove teachers in all grades will be giving the first round of our district wide assessments during the months of October and November.
Theses tests, officially called district Interim Formative Assessments (IFA’s), provide important information for our teachers as we gauge our students’ progress toward meeting their grade level standards.
Three times a year - in the fall, winter, and spring - students will take a math and an English Language Arts test that is aligned with the content standards for their grade. This information will be used by the teachers to see where our students are excelling and where we need to focus some of our reteaching.
Individual student data will remain within the district. In other words, our individual student IFA testing results will not be sent to the State of California. The information from these Interim Formative Assessments will help our district analyze our students’ progress toward meeting our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Goals. In particular, we will use the information to see how our school’s individual student groups are progressing (socioeconomically disadvantaged youth, English Learners, etc.).
These based Interim Formative Assessments are similar in rigor to the state tests (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium [SBAC]) given in May. Like the SBAC tests, PGUSD’s Interim Formative Assessment are given on a computer and the results are reported through our student data and analysis program Illuminate.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing! Please stop by the lunch room to claim your child's jacket, lunchbox or water bottle. All items will be donated over Fall Break. Last time to claim items will be Friday the 12th.
It is so important to put your child's name on your items so that they can be returned to you! Please label all your items if you want them to find their way home.
Want to be a Chaperone or a Volunteer?
We love to have parents help out at school and join us on our field trips. Before you go, make sure you have been fingerprinted through the District office. It is district policy that all parent volunteers be fingerprinted and cleared before working in the room or chaperoning a trip. Pick up a packet in the office or click here.
Contact Angela Lippert or Kimberly Ortiz at the District Office for more information.

Message from Ms. Natalie our Health Clerk
Please remember that your child should not carry his or her medication in their backpack. All medications, including epi pens and inhalers, must be checked into the nurse's office with the necessary paperwork from the doctor.
If your child needs to have medicine given to them at school, please get the appropriate paperwork from the health office.
All medication must be brought to school in the original labeled container prepared by the pharmacy, doctor, or pharmaceutical company (i.e., no envelopes, foil, or baggies). The label should include the following:
Child's name
Name of medication
Dosage of medication to be given
Frequency of administration
Route of administration
Name of physician ordering medication
Date of prescription
Expiration date
REMEMBER: Next week, October 15-19th, is Fall Break. No school the entire week.
It’s getting scary in a very good way at Forest Grove!
We have some fun activities planned to help our students and families break out their costumes to celebrate Halloween.
On Wednesday, October 31, we will have a school wide Halloween parade at Breaker Stadium beginning at 9 a.m. This will provide a wonderful opportunity for parents to see all of the costumes students wear to school on Halloween.
Please follow these guidelines when dressing your child up for Halloween: All weapons, swords, knives, etc. need to be left at home. Students cannot wear masks or excessive face paint that prevent us from recognizing the student. Costume props can be carried in the parade but after they will need to be left in the classroom.
We hope you will be able to join us for these delightful celebrations of Halloween.
