Please make sure that your child is logging their reading in the Reading Rewards Program online. If you need help logging on, please ask your child's reading teacher. If you do not have internet access, you can record your child's reading time on their communication calendar and initial.
Math - Students need to be practicing their basic math facts (0 X 0 - 12 X 12) for at least 15 minutes every night. All of our math units rely heavily on knowing these basic facts and is expected that 4th graders master them.

Reading & Writing
In reading classes this week, students will review the text features and their purpose in non-fiction texts. We will talk about main idea and how detail support the main idea.
Writing:
This week students will begin working on a new expository composition. Students will write an expository composition about their favorite time of year.
Social Studies
This week students will explore and describe Texas's roll in the Civil War and Reconstruction, as well as the impact these events had on Texas.
Math & Science
Math:
We will be finishing our unit on measurement and conversions in the metric and customary systems. Students also will be identifying the relative unit of measure, such as a yard is about from the door knob to the floor.
Students will need to have a strong understanding of their basic multiplication facts as the math units rely heavily on that foundation skill.

VISITOR ROUTINES
Whether it's to spend time with your child for breakfast or lunch, or to help out in the classroom, we love having visitors on campus! For the protection of our students and staff, we require that all visitors present a valid Driver’s License or another form of a government issued current photo ID prior to any visit or student contact (no exceptions!). District employees may show their active LHISD employee badge as ID.
We also ask that all classroom visitors make arrangements/appointments with classroom teachers or administrators prior to a visit, as we do not allow unscheduled visits (as much as we like surprises!).
