On Monday, please join me in welcoming Cindi Sum as our new Secretary/Tresurer. Cindi has over 10 years experiece with this role in Irvington Schools. She lives in Zionsville has had children grow up and attend Zionsville Schools. She will be busy with training these first three days. You won't see her at the office seat as much as you may see her out in the building getting accustomed to our campus.
These last five days of school will be fast. Be ready for the sprint ahead!
Thank you to the many folks who had a hand in keeping our school safe. This past week we had our first 9-1-1 call of the year. Many folks played a role in this event and the end result was a student received the appropriate help they needed very quickly and all is well! Great job Team PVE!
It is important to take a minute and pat yourself on the back. As corny as it sounds, time and time again I am reminded from visitors about our school. Last week we had a 1/2 day visit from Madison Schools. It was very humbling to hear many of the compliments they gave our school. This is credit to our wonderful staff and the partnership with have with our learners and parent community. This is also due directly to the synergy we have together. In the book Laws of Teamwork by John Maxwell he quotes Stanley Gault as saying, "We don't work for each other; we work with each other." This is evident eveyday as we celebrate together and move mountains together.
From the Literacy Coaches
It is that time of year again! Time to reassess our students. In your mailbox, you have found or will find a copy of your Beginning of Year (BOY) Words Their Way data. Each student’s total feature points correct and spelling stage from August/September are on the data sheet, as well as, color coded to easily see your class’ breakdown.
Yellow- Below Grade Level Target
Green- On Grade Level Target
Blue- Above Grade Level Target
We need you to help us collect the Middle of Year (MOY) WTW data. Either this week or when we return from Winter Break, give your whole class the WTW Inventory Test again. After you score the new inventories and determine their total feature points and new spelling stage, complete the 2 columns on your color coded sheet. Return these sheets to either Kathy or Carly before January 15th.
The AIMSWeb testing window is also open. It closes on February 1st. If you want your data on the Rooney Report please have all your data in by January 29th. The sooner you assess your students the sooner we can look at growth and intervention groups. If you are unsure of which assessments to give, see the ZCS Literacy Screening document on Carly’s Canvas. Click this link to go directly to the assessment information. https://zcs.instructure.com/courses/263/pages/assessment-information
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help. Thanks.
Your literacy coaches,
Carly and Kathy
