From the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians
Welcome to Fall! We want you to know how thankful we are for your support. Whether you donate your time, effort or donations, please know that I as well as the Lesslie faculty and staff are very appreciative of all that you do. We would not be able to do what we do without your success.
I am also very thankful for such a supportive and hard working PTO. Our PTO works tirelessly to ensure that our staff and students have needed resources. Our volunteers give of their time and effort because they value Lesslie and our students. Please know there are no words that can express how much we appreciate you.
Working with such a committed group of teachers and staff is rewarding. Please let your child's teacher know how much you appreciate what they do.
I would like to encourage all of our parents, grandparents and guardians to attend "It Takes A Village on Tuesday, Dec. 12th. This workshop is being sponsored by the staff at Lesslie. If you can't attend the entire time, please come and attend the workshops that you can. We will have individuals from Parent Smart, local counseling agencies, our exceptional student education department, Stepping Stones, Catawba Mental Health, CMC Randolph, and Dr. Martha Edwards, an area pediatrician will be conducting the opening session. Please make sure that someone from your family attends.
I really appreciate the support that you show and give the teachers and staff at Lesslie. I hope you enjoy the time with family and friends during our break.
"Our school values learning, achievement, collaboration, and responsibility as cornerstones of our learning community."

Attendance Policy
“The United States Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) defines an “absent student” as one who doesn’t attend 50% of the instructional day.”
In the past, in elementary schools, if a student came to school for even a short time and left school, the student was counted as being present for all day.
Under the new accountability for Chronic Absenteeism, if students do not attend 50% of the school day, the student should show an all-day absent.
The Power of Positivity
Let's continue being positive this year by focusing on what we can do and celebrating our accomplishments! Let's make a commitment to helping colleagues think of the positive or to come up with a solution when he or she begins to complain. Remember to go to someone who can help you resolve the issue.
